+1...it's all about $$ for Bernie. He cares more about the billions who won't watch a runaway series than the millions who want to see true racing. Carol saw this coming a few years ago and migrated to LMP/sportscar racing. That's where you're going to find pure racing...f1 is now a mass market "product"
Well put! Ive watch F1 since 79 and I would do anything I could to not miss a race and that went for my friends as well. Now we meet later in the week and nobody even talks about the previous race and if someone does bring it up.....the others say that they never even watched the race. It is truely sad what has happened but its happening in all facets of yours and mine.....it called GREED. We are guided by whats on TV way to much. People have to get a life and not be continue to be steered into "their" feed me your money schemes.
The teams/drivers won't complain because Bernie's making them boatloads of cash. I'm tired of the manipulation...I really need to turn the page and pick up ALMS. That a series that's still privateer driven and features cutting-edge technology (versus speed-limiting specs). Racing is about "let the best car/driver win"....and that's how it should remain
I might start going down to watch the indy series race here in Toronto and you get the bonus of wathing the Ferrari challenge races.
Just look at ESPN on Facebook to see if people buy what's being sold. The newbies believe that Maldonado is truly the class of the grid. Of course, Hamilton is 'the villain' because "he cheats to win". Ferrari, ironically, are supposedly "protected by Bernie". Too rich...
Whatever credibility Speed had left has been reduced to zero now. Did anyone catch the promo they're doing leading up to this "Gloves Are Off" NASCAR All-Star race? They're airing 12 consecutive hours of coverage to this debacle. All this, all we'll be lucky to get 12 hours total of coverage from Le Mans. If Murdoch wants to add another football network, why not do it on a home shopping channel, there's only 40 of those now. BHW
Wasn't there some mention of cross promotion between Sauber and a football club? Or Murdoch has gone completely off his nut.
Bloody hell, I check back in on here and it's all talk about manipulated misery. Well I thought it was a great race.
It was an exciting race to be sure. But is that all we should expect? Watching people bet millions on the spin of a roulette wheel is exciting too but there's no sport. Rant over
The forum crew were just walking past. It looks like the fire is under control now. Hopefully no one got hurt. EDIT: KERS Fire. An explosion. edit 2: some injuries
Sky reporting only one person injured. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well ok.. Personally for me as long as it is all the same for everyone I can deal with it, saying that I know that all or most of the tweaks is aimed at increasing overtaking, which was the main bone of contention. Id rather have what we have now, than that cretin Mosley dishing out his race fixing crap penalties, and Bernie was in on that.
It's a shame when the tires are the overriding factor for ostensibly the world's best drivers in the most advanced cars. What would be wrong with: three types of tires per weekend: dry, intermediates, wets. No phony requirements to use a specified number of compounds, because there is only one compound per type.
