I'm new to the forum but wanted to put word out that I'm in the market for a 1984 or 1985 Quattrovalvole. At this stage I'm open minded about either a GTS or GTB.

Service history, mechanical/cosmetic condition is priority at this stage over strictly low mileage, but I'd appreciate any leads that anyone may have.

    Cheers

Just want to say I met Jim down at the Concorso Ferrari Pasadena event a week ago. He was complementary of my '84 QV so, clearly, in addition to being a nice guy, he has good taste and a discerning eye! :)

There's a nice white GTB QV for sale in the 8 cylinder section of this site. $29.5k

but it had a major issue in it's past because it has a non matching #'s engine from a 328 in it.

Yes and it made it faster! Could this be a "diamond in the rough"? Obviously no longer original but could be a helluva driver.

I called and had a nice chat with the owner. Have always loved the red leather interior!

The one at Forza is a euro I talked with Peter about it awhile back it has some needs but I would imagine he would work with you on the price he's a good guy been in the business a long time.

Also purchased my 84QV from Forza about six years ago. Peteer is a great guy and the car has been excellent. Give him a try.

    You're welcome!

Happy hunting. If Peter at Forza doesn't have the car you want, he'll search. Good guy, as others have noted.

Quick note to say thanks again for everyone's leads and encouragement.

I realized a lifelong dream yesterday closing on a gorgeous '81 GTSi. Although not the QV I was looking for, I found what proved for me to be the right car at the right time.

No doubt, the QV may still come later!

Thanks to ChrisBinsb for the lead . . .

Will post pictures once the car arrives. In the meantime, here's my images from last week's Ferrari Racing Days Challenge weekend in Monterey

I know the feeling. My 330 2+2 came out of SF Bay area, the 308 out of CT. Both were shipped to Dallas via enclosed transport.

I had some upfront work done on the 330 at the shop in San Mateo that did the PPI. It didn't arrive here until three months after actual purchase on 12/1/02...the holiday season accounted for a month of delay, sourcing parts took some time.

On the 308, heavy winter storms and icy roads twice caused two-week transport delays, and the car finally got here in early February '08 after mid-December '07 purchase.

Now, the darn thing has been in the shop for three weeks, similar issues: sourcing parts, getting estimates for front hood repair, mechanic on vacation, holiday weekend. Grrrr!

The 308 arrived yesterday afternoon and I am still in shock. My first Ferrari. It has actually happened and I am over the moon. Although I love almost every Ferrari, the 308 is the car that snapped me from my adolescent slumber at 16 and set the target . . . a target almost lost many times over the years . . . but one from which I never let go.

I'd hoped to offer up some images worthy of the moment, but I was either a basket case or too focused on safe receipt of the vehicle. Somehow I might've also been reserving my faculties to defeat the challenge of "equal parts water/paper towel" self-absorbed LA rush hour to get the car home safe! Better pix are on the way, for sure.

One note: I knew that I might be a goner for this car when I opened the door to discover the date of manufacture. I'll never forget my 20th birthday, walking across campus with a clear direction, excited for the years ahead . . . dreaming of that Ferrari! May, 1981 . . . and here it is.

    Cheers!
