    Hey all,

My WD HD TV player died yesterday, so I'm up for a replacement.

Which player is the best on the market at the moment to replace my over-used device with?

I'm not in need for extra diskspace or anything, just a simple little box that I can hook up to the TV via HDMI and plugin a USB harddrive.

    Thanks for your help!!

    Lex

If you don't want to do an Apple TV or set up an Apple Mac Mini.... this is a great device: http://www.boxee.tv/

I've been thinking about getting a Boxee, Slingbox, or similar streamer for my dad... he moved to CA a few years ago, and is a die-hard Tigers fan. It's next to impossible to catch more than a handful of games out there...

So, I have 2 recievers in HD, and a DVR; and plenty of bandwith. The only problem is he doesn't have the bandwith at the moment.

Anyway... thoughts to ponder as well. Id dig watching while I'm out of town too.

Why not use the Xbox? IF you have the wireless adapter(built in on later models) you can stream anything you want from windoz.

Else popcorn hr is pretty popular http://www.popcornhour.com/onlinestore/ or as Mr Big suggests the boxeeee

That looks like something I'd like to go for. Looked at the specs yesterday, and it seems pretty good though!!

Sadly enough they don't post it to Australia for some reason :(

Yeah I still have the first generation XBox without the adapter, but having said that I just want 1 simple remote like the Boxee or Apple TV :)

Thanks for the suggestions so far guys!!

I have MLB Premium running through a MacMini at my house. I can watch just about every single Cardinal baseball game (home or away TV feed) with amazing streaming quality and tons of on screen stats. 100% recommended. It rocks. The HDMI output to our TV (45" panel) is perfect.

My wife hates it however. I've probably seen 25 games already !

I've got a boxee, 2 roku's, a slingbox and vulkano. Yeah, I know its a lot, but the only way to know what really works.

Like all things it depends on what you need.

To watch my home HD receiver & recordings remotely (ie Directv), I like the vulkano best. I've had 3 slingboxes burn out due to overheating issues, the most expensive (plus you have to buy the iphone apps for mobile access). The vulkano has been the most reliable at the lowest cost. So my vote goes to the vulkano, plus it has HDMI output which the slingbox does not.

Well I actually bought a Boxee Box last Sunday, and after roughly 2 hours of playing around with it I brought it back to the shop.

It couldn't read the HDD (which was the main purpose). Also for almost $70 less I get the same device as what I had before (WD HD TV Live), and everything works fine on that without any sort of issues.

    Guys thanks for your help!!!!!
