In case anyone has a piggy bank that needs emptying, I just received a tickler about this 1974 Porsche Carrera RS 3.0 from Hexagon Classics in England. Very rare piece at just 54 made. This one, Chassis No. 9114609046, has a nice racing history and a recent three-year resto at $200+K. I have no financial or other interest in the car. Just thought I would pass it along.

Are the 3.0 as expensive as the 2.8?

Wow! Any idea what they are asking for it? Not that I can afford it, just curious. These cars don't show up for sale every day.

    A 2.8 RS is +/- 800k. A 2.7 RS is 250-300k. I would think a 3.0 is somewhere in between.

Which currency are you quoting in ?

2.7 RS in UK are typically 175K british pounds and up (tourings version that is)

I agree though the RS3.0 would be between the RS2.7 and RS2.8 but closer to the 2.8 price point.

looks a very nice car indeed

(The guys at Andial once told my gal that the 2.8 was the best engine that could be built on that case, the down side being that boring out that much was asking for trouble in a daily. It was the engine Louise Piech had in her 911, BTW, a fact that worried everyone at the factory.)

    Hi,

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but since there is a threat on this Porsche, it may be worth trying. I am looking for some more information on that car. This is because it was my grandpa, Adam Smorawinski, who was racing this car in Poland, and I am beginning to collect any data available on its history. If you have any reliable sources I would appreciate if you shared it with me. My e-mail address is [email protected]

    Thanks,

    Tomek Smorawinski

By the way, the price is close to the 2.8 RS
