Absolutely, pretty much the dumbest thing to do on a bike. I'm stunned that a lot of scooter riders seem to think that falling off a scooter doesn't hurt as much as falling off a bike. Not that I have any objection to scantily clad women, but it makes my skin crawl to see some pretty little thing in sandals, short skirt & skimpy top -no gloves of course - riding a scooter in Sydney traffic. Skin grafts cost a lot more than proper motorcycling gear...
not in my fund Dave, I had 3 grafts done for $500 .... would have prefered not to have had them done though
Kids...I know you all love a conspiracy theory, but the vicroads advert is absolutely correct and I for one NEVER saw it the way that article portrays it. There is absolutely no doubt that if that rider had been doing 60 he might have avoided that collision.......at no point did I read into that advert that the speeding was the cause, just that going slower would have saved him. Nor did I for a second think "the driver who pulled out is blameless" The reality is, sh***t happens and motorcyclists die and are injured because of the stupidity of others. This advert just says "slow down and you'll have a better chance of avoiding idiots", or that's how I saw it.
Yeah...so do I!! btw another thing that gives me the poos......if a car breaks down in the tunnel the driver should be VERY heavily fined, with huge signs saying that's the case so everyone knows. Just one broken down car in the tunnel causes traffic to bank up for kms, and spoils the day for many.

That is good economy, no doubt. And having driven a Prius a couple of years ago I can say it's actually not a bad car. However, this is the trip computer from my wife's E93 BMW after a road trip we did last year. Adelaide - Melbourne - Canberra - Sydney - Brisbane - Adelaide. It included several days driving around in the CBD of Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, so it wasn't all highway stuff. As you can see, it costs about $1.80 more per 100km to drive this car than it does a Prius. And the BMW is a car which is very comfortable, handles extremely well, has plenty of poke without being a rocketship, and looks damn nice to boot. Oh, and you can put the top down whenever you want, too (which we did for at least 500km of this trip) On the final Brisbane to Adelaide leg (a distance of 2200km) we stopped for fuel ONCE (at Parkes). Diesel. 320D. Has only 135kw but loads of torque (380 Nm) and is plenty fast enough for quick and safe overtaking. Have to say I love the handling. With the roof down on a summer evening drive through the Adelaide hills it's a real nice place to be.
