Second the one series M. I liked it so much, I bought one. It has depreciated not at all in last the last 6 months and 6000 miles. By far the most fun M car built. I love more than my e30 M3 (heresy to some). Back seats are very useable, and mine do get used.

For REAL 4 seaters (where 4 adults can actually ride) I have to second the M3, especially the E46. Amazing packaging for a car that is damn close to the driving experience of many "pure" sports cars, probably including a 456. The Audi S5 is really good looking, not as much of a driver's car.

I had an RS4 sedan and it is also not quite the driver's car the M3 is, but it's got a ton of character and it looks fantastic.

I call BS on that - I had one that I used as an "almost DD" for 3 years taking my two daughters to school every day. I got rid of it because my 8 year old complaint about legroom when my 11 year old was in the front seats. The only road trip we ever took as a family in that car was to the restaurant b/c the front seats have to go way back to be comfortable in the front. Unless midgets are in the front seats there is NO WAY two 6' 200lb can fit in the back seats... It's still and great car but no a 4 seater!

the backseat is bigger than, say, a 911 o) but not what I would put into the "comfortable" category for adults.

 

One of my co-workers rode in the back of my Coupe once & he's 6'2", and I would say medium build - he said it was fine back there for him.

Almost none of the cars mentioned here - Porsche 911 aside - is really a sportscar. A Cayenne Turbo certainly isn't, nor is a Subie ... Maserati Quatroporte ... M3 ...

Sure... all GTs or "crossovers" or fast SUVs... but "4 seats", by strict definition already makes it not a sports car.

I think, though, that in these type of discussions "sports car" is loosely used to mean 'fast/quick and cool'

 

Oh, well OK... 55k euros. Last I checked thats more like about $70k USD and that car is in Italy which means importing it. Plus Italy used Ferrari market is taking a beating because of Monti, but I doubt there are enough cars there to move the needle on the global valuation really.

Since Im in the US, I usually base my opinion of what they cost on just US dealers.

For example if we go the other way and expand the search net to Singapore, then Im sure we could call out used 612s at $300k

Imo, you need 4 doors if you want 4 seater. 4 seat coupes too inconvenient. M3 is the choice here

I think M3 would be an excellent choice. 2 doors vs 4 would be more of a product of how much you expect to transport kids or additional passengers. I don't find it too inconvenient but, that said, my C63 does make for a great daily beater in part because of four doors.
