The new version? I'm a huge fan of the original (Kurt Russell) and who knows I may like the newer version.

The original Thing is one of my top-5 best movies ever! I can still hear the music at the end as they fade to black.
The new version? .... I give it a "7" at best, on the 1-to-10 scale.

Just saw Dark Shadow, I'm a Tim Burton fan and my wife likes Johnny Depp. Movie was fun I give it an "8" my wife gives it a "9". I thought it was going to be all comedy (had a bit more drama than I was in the mood for)

I MADE myself rewatch 'The Thing' over and over because it freaked me out so much the first time I saw it lol!

Dark Shadows looks like something I will like for two simple reasons. I grewup watching the original series and I have never really seen a Depp movie I did not like.

What was the original series like? I'd never heard of it before the movie came out?

It was great for the time era. You know how kids are with such things supernatural yet in all reality it was a soap opera of sorts. You need to realize that back then there was no cable and alot of tv's were still black and white.

Yes the new version. But don't let my opinion stop you from watching it. I never saw the original and this story line was similar to others I've seen before. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either to me.

Lord of the Rings Two Towers Extended edition.

    3 hours, 45 mins LOL.

The final scene with Gollum, with the background silent and him talking about their death plot is very dark but very very well played.

A great way to end the film leading into the Return of the King film.

Dark Shadows 8/10 Its a return to form for Tim Burton. Very similar in feel to Sleepy Hollow. it was nice to erase the awful taste of Alice in Wonderland and Willy WOnka from my mouth.

I actually laughed out loud a few times and Depp does a fantastic job, but the star of the movie is Eva Green.

Having said that...the ending is awful. You can tell some scenes were edited out and it just doesnt make much sense.

The Avengers 6/10 Another generic summer action film that forgets we've seen NYC destroyed already in countless other movies.

The Raven 7.5/10 Nice gothic period piece. Plot has some fun turns and twists but you can see the ending coming a mile away. I think I liked it mostly because you rarely see movies like this anymore so i appreciate it when they are made, even if they arent perfect.

Back to Avengers, as the discussion refuses to die.

I was a comic-book fan to a certain degree as a kid, left them behind as I grew older. Comic-book movies based on classics like Superman, Batman, and Spiderman, I've generally liked, the rest I've had no interest in seeing. Hellboy is the one notable later-generation exception, love the guy.

Avengers was a nice surprise. Went in with low expectations, took it for what it was, and it turned out to be much better than I expected. Solid A within its genre, IMO.

The Dictator : 5/10. I loved Bruno and Borat. I love Baron Cohen from when he did only TV. But this was lame.

Ya I had low expectations for avengers too. That's why I gave it 7/10. I think Whedon did the best he could with disparate characters and plots. I really liked Firefly and Serenity so I was already a Whedon fan. That being said, avengers is like junior varsity compared to The Dark Knight. I expect The Dark Knight Rises to be epic. Nolan is genius.

Saw Girl with Dragon Tattoo. 5/10. I enjoyed the book and the original Swedish film much more.

I want to go see it, but I feel the hype and the funny parts were all in the previews.

Goodfellas was one the other night, I hadn't seen it in probably 15 years. Quite possibly a perfect movie. 22 years old and still holds up.

    Rampart.

Good performance by Woody Harrelson, intense at times, but basically plotless.

Yeah, it wasn't his best. Funny entertaining moments, but overall, 5/10 is right on the money.

Battleship. Hot chick, decent action, lame plot, lame and unbelievable CGI action and bizarre rendering of humanoid aliens. You would think that if they had the technology to scream to earth at warp speed, they would be able to satellites and space junk on their way down...WTF!

Dark Shadows. Well done, but lame story. Great dialogue, though.

I'm looking forward to the Dark KnIght Rises also. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were much superior to the older Burton ones.
