Back in 2001 when Mel was still living in Melbourne, she bought herself a new BMW Z3. It was her pride and joy and she absolutely loved that car. She brought the car with her when she moved to Sydney and we moved in together not long after. We had some great times with that car and loved driving it around Sydney on a warm summer's night with the roof down. By early 2005, Mel was heavily pregnant with Piper and after living in denial for a few months, realised she could not fit a baby seat or pram, so reluctantly traded it in for a family wagon. I still remember quite clearly the loud sobbing as we left the Z3 behind at the dealership. She never quite got over letting that car go and would often sigh as she saw one on the road. Fast forward to last saturday night and I was aimlessly surfing the net, browsing through carsales and for some reason still unclear to me had a look at Z3s for sales. First car I looked at was a silver Z3 with red interior and very distinctive wheels. Hmmm, could it be the same car? Well, I could not stand not knowing so early Sunday morning I headed off to the dealership, cross checked the chassis number and bingo! It was still in good shape and I took it for a quick drive, seemed fine, did the deal and back home she comes! Needless to say, Mel was over the moon and is looking forward to the reunion. She of course bawled her eyes out again upon seeing the car (note the puffy eyes in the picture ) and is picking it up tomorrow. It's funny how some things in life work out......
