Hi all, im trying to figure out how the motors end the hard/soft button working, when the car is still im putting the ignition ON and i hear the motors operating, when i took out one motor i see that the PIN on the absorber is in the middle, when i plug the motor back in the absorber and pressing the button hard/soft the light comes on but the actuator is not responding. I know that the car should drive to change the stiffness but i wanted to know what is the first position of the PIN when the ignition gets to ON. When i change manually (by Hand)the PIN position to the right the absorbers becam very Soft and when it goes to the Left the absorbers get very hard,i can hardly shake the car. Can anybody do it in his car -i mean with the ignition ON to take out the actuator and see where the PIN goes-so l can compare if mine is working properly? thanks in advance. ps.the shocks are just refurbished.
Page F-26 in the WSM At 0 MPH the front shocks should be at 45 degrees while the rears are at 38 degrees on the soft setting At 0 MPH the front shocks should be at 55 degrees while the rears are at 51 degrees on the hard setting. Most of the softness is found between 13 MPH and 60 MPH.
Mitch thank you very much for the answer, i never paid attention on this diagramm. Let me ask something else, with 0 MPH the actuator is moving when you pressing the button,or the car needs to drive for the actuators to change the stifness?
Sort of depends. If the car has not been driven for a while (and for several starts) the suspension computer goes into some sort of mode until it sees some real movement on the tires (about 1 miles). So, if the car has been used resently, then it is likely the SCU will simply move the rotation. But it is not guarenteed under all situations.
But I read: " With the ignition key on, and the vehicle stopped, the actuators are positioned so the by-pass valve is fully open, regardless of the selector switch position" Pag. F29, in workshop manual.
So i make a small Test and i think the Front absorbers adjusting wrong. They are softer than the back. If we go according the Diagramm the Pins schould be on the Hard position about 55 to 56 I took two Pictures the First is the Original Actuator position(Hard) and seems to be much less than 55 Degrees and the second is a position that i put with my fingers what i think is the right position. The suspension with this little differense is much harder on the front. 1st picture Original Position 2nd picture Manual Position I put a thin red line to saw where the tooth stays. Do i need to calibrate the ECU or went something wrong on the shocks during the refurbish? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hello Themis, how are you? BTW when you cycle between sport and comfort modes, can you feel any diff in the ride? I can't, from day 1 that I had the car. Audi
I find my car is decidely sloppy in comfort mode and pretty normal in sport mode. It is a little easier to tell the difference in the F355 than in the Vette with F51.
Hi Audi, im fine, too much Stress though, I owe you some pictures from my Engine covers ! Since l refurbished the suspension yes l can feel some difference. You can work your shocks manually though, from one side ( 0 to 90 degrees)to he other the difference is huge..... Or drive one bad Block on one programm and then drive it at once with the other programm and try to feel it.
