    Honestly I think its one of the best cars ever made. I own a few other old-timer Icons swell so I have a good basis to compare. This 275/4 is just incredible. Its hard to explain until you sit in one and start driving.

    I came close to buying a 65 2 cam in Rome 40 years ago, but got cold feet on the car. I have a 69 911 which has been mechanically restored and it drives far better than one can imagine for a 44 year old car. So I can imagine how good the 4 cam is !!! Enjoy.

    Well we have similar taste. I LOVE the 911 especially the older models aswell. I would love seeing a picture of your car. I will PM you on the cars I own....

    No problems. I can send a link to my photobucket site and I have plenty of car photos on it. Even Ferraris in Villa Minozzo last year (in Reggio Emilia) but mostly all new cars. I am in the gym and the system is limited. Will send you the link in a few days.

    Congrats! The 275/4 is one of few I'd designate as a "keeper". I'm sure you'll get the hang of the nuances of the car and be a great caretaker while you have her.

    So I experienced day two with the 275 GTB/4. It is a car that is addictive to drive I have admit. But I have noticed several things:

    1) The oil pressure is always between 2.5 and 5 (more towards 2.5). Is that normal? It strikes me as very low because the scale goes to 10.

    2) Also it takes about 15min of driving before the oil temperature starts to move up. I find that rather long. Is that normal swell? Seems very long.

    The oil temperature takes a LONG time to move off of the peg.

    What oil are you running?

    I used to use 50W Rotella.

    oil psi is in bar?

    Hello Saran,
    You might invest a little time in the technical details of your car! Reading the manual might help :) IT guys say RTFM....
    Regarding the oil pressure, this is quite low, it should be at running rev's say 3-4 k at least 4-5 bar. Oil temp takes forever to get up, like an old man. It might not get up at all if you drive low revs and outside temp is (very) low. No problem, only dont push the car too hard.
    BTW, the car loves to rev, so driving below 4000 rev's is not were the car was designed for. Keep it between 4-6 k and you love it and so does the engine. (ofcourse after a carefull heating up)....

    Oscar- thank you. I just read through the owners manual now. I was doing mostly everything right. I am aware of the 4-6 revs and the car is indeed in the element in that range. The motor sounds glorious in that range. I might get the engine checked anyway after 83'000kms. That should fix the low oil pressure problem. Thank you for your help! Best E

    My manual says:
    "normal oil pressure at 100 degrees c at 7000 RPM is 5.5 bar."
    "minimum oil pressure at 100 degrees C at 7000 RPM is 4 bar"
    "minimum pressure at 700-800 RPM is 1. to 1.4 bar"
    See page 39.
    Yours seems normal to me. Page 39 also tells you how to adjust oil pressure if you feel it is necessary. If it were my car I would leave it alone unless strange noises tell you differently.

    Thank you. That is reassuring indeed and I also read these figures in my manual. I have not had the courage to take the RPM to 7'000 yet but will do so soon. In fact 8'000 are possible so I just should try it once when the car is warm. Already at 4'-5'000 the car makes such a sound that I am scared to push it more.

    Day 3: This car is addictive to drive. I finally had the courage to drive at 7'500 RPM and the sound is to die for. This car is made for high rev driving. However: I have noticed a new problem:

    When the car is cold, the gear shifts in first gear without a squeak. Only after the oil has warmed up and I drive quite hard, does the first gear start giving me problems. It makes that awful noise in first gear (other gears no problem). That cannot be normal!

    Also: Is it necessary to push the 'A' button every time I start the motor? Until the fuel pump stops ticking takes forever - is that much patience really required? I am doing now because i do not want to wreck the engine.....

    I don't think there are synchro rings on reverse.......but I'm not very technical....

    That little fuel pump is working to fill six carbs....mine actually is audible all the time, but changes tone slightly after a minute or so, signalling carbs are full and ready to go...

    I have a soft spot for these V12's.

    Sad part is, I will never be able to afford to buy the one I want.

    So as usual, I will live my life through the eyes of members here that own these wonderful machines. :)

    Thank you. Yes I like the looks although there are many more beautiful Ferrari's. I was very close to buying a Lusso because I think optically it is more beautiful and elegant. But the 275/4 fascinated me because of all the reports I had read, saying it was one of the best road going Ferrari's to drive. And besides, there is something interesting about a car that is not perfect in looks. I think the 250 GTO is a good example. I looks like a monster (in fact it was termed that by Ferrari themselves) but because of the performance - it is the most sought after car of them all.

    You are blessed to able to experience what the 275 has to offer. They were amazing cars for their time and they will look amazing forever in a day. :)

    So I decided to participate in a rally with the 275/4. I drove four hours to Germany, drove for two days more than 5-6hours per day and then drove back four hours to Zurich, and the car gave me no problems! How about that! So much for the saying old cars are not reliable.
    The howling of the V12 engine on the German autobahn is priceless and the weather was just perfect.
