Yesterday I took my 400 GTA for a ride, pretty much the first ride after the winter break. Good to hear the engine running again!

However, looking at it when I parked it again, the car was hanging pretty low on one side of the back, and only on one side :-(

I hope I didn't miss older threads about that: Is there a source for self-levelers at a reasonable price... errr... what is the financial damage (should I contact Koni if they have started rebuilding them)? Does anyone have experience or knowledge about shops that rebuild them, with what success? Also - "while you are at it" - should I do both sides?

Also read about conversion to air suspension - not sure if that will come really cheaper but sounds not very original to me...

I am based in Munich, so I guess shipping them around in Europe would be fine.

Thanks for your feedback - also appreciate advice via PM.

You may have an advantage over us in the US. The Koni factory is out on some island wetlands of Holland. They will rebuild any of their products there. When I was based in Belgium I brought them some racing shocks to rebuild that were made in a run of only about 100 and they did them. I think the turn around was about a month. I no longer have contact info. If you search the threads you will find some US based re-builders.

I manage to find two NOS units. I had one leaking. So I replace the matching pair on each side not all four. Now I have two used ones that I can get rebuilt when an issue occurs again.

Don't know anything about Koni "Self-Levelers" beside some of the older 2 + 2 Ferraris use these parts. However I had a adress of a shop specialised in repairs of Koni shocks in Holland.
Bought spare parts for Koni shocks some years ago at this shop, I will look for this business card and post the adress - but I'm not sure they also do self-levelers.

    kind regards from munich :)

Can't find the business card, but I found his web page.

    www.poohlpower.de

The shop also isn't in holland, it's near the boarder to holland.
Just have a look at "Über uns" and you can find some references (in german).

Yes sounds perfekt, first I thought the shop is in Holland because I could remember that he worked direktly for koni. I just hope for you that he also rebuilds the self-levelers.

Shipping for the parts took two days:) and I was really happy to get them!

    Hi Florian,

I did get your message forwarded by Paul, don't know if you got my reply, but the shop in Switzerland is www.arepa.ch . they specialize in suspension for race cars and road going versions, about 400CHF each for a rebuild if you give them the old ones. Ride height is perfect, ride quality also. I am not affiliated with them but have know the boss for many years, he used to run a rally team, and he's worked on other projects for me.
    Good luck.

one of the rear self-leveler damper of my 1973 365 GT4 2+2 failed, I was told that Koni is no longer supporting this vintage model then I've started to search and found an option to repair in Italy. first attempt (on both two rear suspensions) did not work, probably because they did not put enough gas pressure. tomorrow I'll check what they've done and will let you know. it should be abt 500 Euros each, to bring back my F to her original 1314 mm !
