I've been reading about problems with the slow down light flickering. My problems is different. The light stays on when the engine is cold and does not go off when it warms-up.

Second problem: There is an intermittent whistling noise. It is very loud and will stop if you shut the car off an restart it. Any suggestions? All possible solutions will be appreciated. Thank you. RAT

For the first problem, it could be the thermocouple itself, or possibly the switch. Does the slow down light come on immediately when you start the car and just stay on all the time? Or does it light up when you start the car (it's supposed to come on briefly when the starter cranks) and then come on very soon after starting, and then just stay on?

My problem was a broken thermocouple. Even when my engine flooded a couple of weeks ago and raw fuel was being dumped into the cat, my slow down light didn't come on. So I pulled the thermocouple and discovered that the end was broken open. I also discovered that the bulb for the slow down light had been removed. When I replaced it, the slow down light came on within five minutes of engine operation, and cut in and out (not flickering). New thermocouple and my problem is solved.

Mine was on steady at one point. One of the wires that goes to the control module had broken off. I resolderd it. The control unit is in the trunk on the passenger side mounted to the underside of a panel there.

Mine is in for service and one of the problems was an intermittent 5/8 slow down light. After checking it all over, it turned out to be a Thermal-coupler. 345.00 from Ricambi
