is this surreal or what ??? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2150253/Unbelievable-video-shows-strong-winds-lift-parked-jumbo-jet-air.html
It shows that the planes aerodynamics are effective at creating lift. Cause if the plane was angled any differently, it would stay on the ground right? We have some pilots here.....your thoughts? I have always been amazed at how a hunk of metal with passengers can fly. Always also wondered how they calculate the maximum weight the plane can carry. What if they get a whole plane of very rounded blokes? Assuming an aircraft can carry 100 passengers and they all weigh an average of 80kgs. So if all the passengers are 160kgs, does it mean that they can only carry 50 passengers and leave the other seats empty? I know I am being a nerd, but it is interesting to me.
Planes have a min take-off speed so that wind was creating enough lift & all it needs is a boost from the back to fly away. Looks like the flaps on the wings are down too & as for weight, I'm sure engineers design them to carry a max payload & airlines will always have enough buffer from overweight. Boats are a little different though, you need to spread them unlike ships I don't know how heavy is a A380 but it must be a hundred tons? The amount of force to push it is amazing & I still remember seeing Concorde over Singapore when I was young.
there IS a weight and balance calculation that needs to be done prior to takeoff ... for commercial jets, they use an average weight per person ... sometimes you may find empty seats but be told the flight is full ... cos they're carrying extra cargo ... gotta offset somewhere ... total takeoff weight is governed by runway length, temperature, altitude, etc ... so a flight taking off from ladakh (the worlds highest airport) may leave 1/2 empty since the runway cannot be made long enuf to generate enuf lift to takeoff at full capacity.
Yours ain't no boat, it's a freaking topedo Wonder how it feels to be in that plane with no mechanical sound & you go floating away...
He's alive!!!! The Jedi master!!! Where do I sign up for Jedi classes? Fresh off my iPhone via Tapatalk
Yup, pretty much sums it up I guess. Plus Leroy, that China Southern 747 was stripped of its interior and engines, and was about to be scrapped anyway. So I don't know if whey would have taken out the hydraulic cables and stuff that link to the flaps etc. Look at how the rudder is deflected, scary yo! Audi, what's your highest xwind landing in a jumbo?
Go to Changi airport, find a sweet spot where planes park, bring a mat to seat buddha style & remember the jedi robe! Then close your eyes & feel....
Careful what you wish for. You might feel something else going up somewhere at the rear. Fresh off my iPhone via Tapatalk
Apologies CKA. Should have checked with you first. Apologies master.... Fresh off my iPhone via Tapatalk
