McLaren are reputedly poised to offer Lewis Hamilton a new contract worth £20m per year and £100m over its full duration as speculation mounts that the 2008 World Champion's future is finally set for resolution.

Hamilton's current deal with the Woking outfit, which has nurtured him since the age of 13, expires at the end of the year.

Although the 27-year-old has repeatedly stressed in recent months that he is in no rush to finalise his future, McLaren - presumably mindful of reports linking their star asset with Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes, all of whom are set to have a driver vacancy for 2013 - are reputedly preparing to make Hamilton an offer seemingly too lucrative to refuse

According to a host of reports, Hamilton and his advisors will soon be presented with a £20m-per-year deal by McLaren that would tie the driver to the team through his peak years until the age of 33.

However, although The Daily Mail suggests that 'talks are likely to begin in earnest around early July', The Daily Telegraph believes 'any contract is unlikely to be signed until later this summer, or even this autumn, as the finer points are hammered out and Hamilton continues to assess his options.'

Although his relationship with Fernando Alonso has thawed of late, the possibility of Ferrari pairing Hamilton with the Spaniard remains remote given that their solitary season together at McLaren proved to be one of the most mutually-destructive and controversial driver pairings in the sport's history. Mercedes, meanwhile, are yet to commit their long-term future to F1, while Red Bull boss Christian Horner has previously ruled out signing a driver hardly renowned for living a quiet life.

Hamilton's talent, however, has never been in question, and a scenario in which they have to race against their former protégé is the stuff of nightmares for McLaren. Hence the reputed determination of Martin Whitmarsh and the Woking hierarchy to retain their 'dream team' of Hamilton and Jenson Button, who signed a three-year contract extension with McLaren in October, whatever the cost - even, it seems, if that cost works out at £100m.

    He should change teams.

I wouldn't be surprised that his management team leaked this story to help with negotiating a contract with another team.

Seems pretty cheap considering they'll likely spend more on front wing aero development in the same period.

    +1!!

The Zonda is probably my all time favourite ever car. Leave it to Hamilton to ruin it with 1 paintjob though! ;). Seriously hideous colour. Do like the fact he got one with a manual gearbox though, applause for that!

I see no reason why he should leave Mclaren. Mclaren is always a team that will be up there in one way or another. Maybe not always a championship winning team, but always there battling for podiums!

I am sorry, but stereotypes, as much as I hate them, must come from somewhere. LewHam is black and he ordered his car in purple and it has a bright red steering wheel. Soooo Pimpalishous.

Lewis woud be stupid not to sign for Mclaren, and I prefer the bare Carbon Fibre of the Zonda 760RS over the odd purple tinted Carbon Fibre 760LH.

Lets hope his Zonda does not end up like one of his F1 cars! Take it easy Lewis lovers I'm just joking around.

    Korr,
Feel better now with your conversion? I was watching when it was stated $150M over 5yrs and that is in US terms not in pounds, shillings and pence. Whats a measely $6M US to him his Black Card will cover that.

I think Lewis should look for new opportunities if they present themselves. I think he would be robbing himself and his career if he did not.

All depends on whether he thinks he has unfinished business at Mclaren ie winning another championship and/or helping them win the Constructors Championship which they haven't won since 1999.

Thats why I enjoy replying to such nonsensical topics, not one damn person here no's what he or any other F1 driver thinks but they post as if they do!

This outlook ie perception has become so so so very tiresome that I cannot nor will I participate anymore in it anymore....I bid you adieu.

No other team wants him. Personally I wouldn't pay him quarter of that ... they are all fast at this level (Massa excluded ;)).

Webber would be cheaper and while his team mate complains the car is not quite right (bouncing like a rabbit), Webber puts his on the front row and then wins the race! :D I've yet to see LH lift a car like that, in a race particularly.

I thought that was contingent on him winning multiple world championships (at least three?). Lew has failed to deliver.
