Hello, I am in B.C. Canada, joined this forum today. I know Ferrari owners, but am not currently one. I do however own two Porsche cars, at least one of which will soon be sold. After being born, raised, and spending most of my life in the Vancouver area, I now reside in Kelowna. My goal here is to gain an education on the famous Italians, and buy informed. Will be purchasing used, not new, and more specifically want a low mileage, mint, manual, red in color. Maintenance cost and complexity willl be purchase factors. About me, married, happy, children are grown and on their own for years now, a grandfather who loves to spoil the grandkids, and retiring from the medical field in the next 5years or less. Thanks for having me, Don.
Welcome to the jungle. Pop some popcorn, and enjoy the read....and as with everything on the Internet....it's all true
WOW! Someone has introduced themselves on here! Its a miracle (haven't seen that for awhile). Welcome Don, and good luck with the sale and with the search. Chris
Well thank you, seems like a friendly place. Yes of course Big red, I am well aware that only the most accurate information is available on the internet. Never a lie or rumor be posted anywhere. Salar, being that no good or catchy user names came to mind, I instead went with the obvious. While aware the automatics have taken over, and many now offer good performance. I just cannot bring myself to buy a sports car without 3 pedals, maybe it is because the invention of the wheel, and my birthday are so close together. My wife and children are out of the will if they buy a 2 pedal car as well.
Nice to meet ya! What are you thinking of buying? Anything built in the last say 6 years will be some what difficult to find in a manual transmission, so if manual is a must for you look at 430 spyders or older. What's your budget? Theres an amazing broker who will find you whatever you want at wholesale and charges a flat-fee so he's not trying to nickel and dime you on the price of the car. What's his name again? oh yeah James Simpson! You should give him a shout whenever you're ready and give him a shot. Also when the F1 style tranny's first came out I had exactly the same mind-set as you and HATED them, mostly because my experience with them was the clunky and in my opinion useless F1-355. BUT then I drove a 360 spider I had for the weekend and my mind slowly started to change, and then I had a 430 coupe for the week of my birthday and it flat out changed my mind all together about them, of course I still love the feel of a 6-speed and slamming through the gears theres sometimes a practical issue you have to consider. Living here in downtown Toronto and usually being stuck in traffic is something alot of buyers have to consider here it's a great option of being able to push a button and be in complete automatic mode, no clutch no shifting every 6 feet etc., However being in Kelowna and near retirement I see your point too! So we all want to know, what Ferrari is it you want?
Rob here...I too am in Kelowna...just moved here last July, with my wife and 360! Am open to meeting up for a coffee and chat....let me know. You can email me here or reply to this thread. Rob
FerrariLover, thanks, and yes I guess being a bit old fashioned, figured I would say hi when I signed up. ClassicFerrari, also thanks to you, nice of you and the others to make me feel welcomed. JamesSimpson, I want a more modern style, and my brother has asked me to keep my eyes open for a red Italian Stalion for him as well, but he wants old school. I am thinking more 430'ish , he is more Testarossa style. But neither of us is really positive yet. Tjacoby, I can tell you are very wise! Do they call you Yoda? Thanks Robertfrasson, thanks, and I would enjoy that as well. I can bring my 911T and take you for a quick drive ti if you kike the Porsche family of cars as well. May I inquire where you left from, to move to this little piece of Paradise in the OK valley? Don
Thanks Robert, just out with my brother right now. Will be in touch though, and do you text? Where did you purchase your car from if I may ask? My brother, and myself had trouble finding a good sales person when purchasing our Porsche cars. The sales man blatantly lied to my brother, and when called on it, tried to claim he never said that. But 4 of us stood there and heard him say it. So if you can recommend someone good, its nice not just for me, but anyone in the future who reads this. Not sure if you bought your 360 privately or not, or local? Local being in B.C. of course for a Ferrari.
Hi Don, Welcome to Fchat. The best place to take your sports/exotic car for service is MotorWerke. They are hands down the friendliest most comfortable place I have taken my cars for service work. Good luck on finding the right Ferrari!!!!
Thanks rhyno, appreciate the advice. Where are you located, and what car(s) do you have if I may ask. It just baffles me to see a dealer run itself into the dirt with bad staff is all. This guy was horrible, and when I tried contacting the Manager, I got no reply. Odd behavior for a business to operate under.
