    Matthias -

Maybe they don't care? If they had wanted it original, it is very easy to tell from any number of sources that the air intake box was originally black.

I think it is an honest mistake, like a license plate frame...

With the degree of quality in this restoration, I really don't think that this was on purpose.

    Regards, Alberto

    Meaning perfectly chromed?

The chrome work looks great, but some of it looks too good for a Dino. Did you chrome the inside of the ashtray too?

    Drew,

The carb cover shouldn't be chromed.......

I am guessing an honest mistake, but chrome on this = yucky

    Hey bobby-bitter,

Thanks for the input but what I meant is matthais' feedback was welcomed so we can fix the car. I want it to be correct, not flashy.

Sean, appreciate the input and we will definitively correct it to make it right.

One thing may be for sure, this chrome could be a little too good for a Dino ;)

Very high quality workmanship being executed on this car and a fabulous example it will be..........but there are a number of items that were never chromed originally as well as whats been mentioned ie gear shift gate, door glass trim etc.......car will sure be blinged up!

Please don't misunderstand - I think the chrome looks spectacular from the photos. Keep the photos coming!

I really appreciate the feedback and would love to know exactly what pieces shouldn't have been chromed that were. thank you for the feedback!

Good catch, thanks! A handful of the parts are polished that originally were. It looks like a few parts on the car were chromed previously that were not supposed to be. Really appreciate the feedback guys!!

I was catching up on this thread when I saw the above comment - the airbox lid on my GTS is chromed, as is the air filter lid. The car hasn't ever been restored, so I'm wondering whether this was some sort of aftermarket accessory or common "upgrade" to perform back when the cars were new?

When I bought my car, both the engine airbox and the air filter box were chromed. I changed them to black.

I think I also saw a few window trim bits that were chromed, but per the Compendium, these were stainless starting with the M-Series(?)

    Nice work!

BTW, That bright reflection in that last photo makes it look like you have milled off in the area where the engine's serial number is. Take care, that is an important number stamping.

135 CS 000 is the engine type
can you have a closer look at the number, what I can see is *0010?62*
so the 5th digit is missing... can you see what it was?
    My guess would be "3"...
    Regards Matthias
