Took the F430 down to Santana this morning, since it was the first nice-weather Saturday (that I have been in town) in quite some time. Saw a Modena, a Stradale, and a 16M, but there was nowhere to park and linger. It appears with all the construction projects SR is dead a gathering point for some time to come. Have any alternatives been proposed or discussed? Stanford might work...

Gary, there's a group of us who drive our cars every other Saturday. Today they went to Half Moon Bay for breakfast. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=252738 Lots of guys from the South Bay. That's probably why you didn't see many parked at SR.

This wasn't just a shortage of Ferraris, it was a shortage of everything, because there was nowhere to park. Just got a text from someone who said the meet has moved to the Century theaters across the street.

I wish I didn't have to be at my Motorcycle shop every Saturday. The 355 Spider and I would come down.

Not enough Sunday meet-ups (Sunday is my only day off, for the last 10 years anyway).

Glad to hear this is still going... I drove by on a nice weekend last month and saw nobody. Not knowing it had moved across the street, I assumed it had just fizzled out.

Just a bump to confirm the change in location.

I went down to SR today for the first time since last year and found the old lot given over to Resident's Only parking, with security gate and so on. I drove back by the Cinemark theater and checked the other two lots and they were still valet parking or filled with SR customers. I gave up and was heading out when I noticed a yellow car with people standing around at the Century Theater and found the new home. One of the attendees said they had talked to the Century Theater folks and they were cool with the cars being there. They sell their first tickets around 12:00 to 12:30, so they don't mind the use before noon; subject to responsible behavior of course.

It was a small gathering this week, apparently due to the Pleasanton car show, but still a 599GTB, my car, GT3RS MkII, a Beck 550, Superperformance Cobra, GT-40, GT-Rs and a dozen others.

So, the new location is in front of the Century 21/22 Theaters, across Winchester Bl from the Olsen Dr entrance to the old lot.

Any chance that we can start earlier again since we don't have to worry about residents?

8:30, 9 am is much better and doesn't eat into the day hanging out for an hour or two.

There's no organizer per se that sets a time; it's who you can get to show up. As I recall, we started at 9:00AM or so 5-6 years ago for the first gatherings. Then it became 10:00AM, then it became 10:30-11:00AM. No one moved the time, it just became later and later as people straggled in. BTW, I arrived about 11:00AM and was probably the last car that showed up.

If you want to try for earlier, I'd suggest networking/posting on a bunch of forums for an earlier start time, get people to show up earlier more often, then people will get used to it happening earlier.

It became later because the SR residents complained to management about the noise and they stuck security on us.

Remember when they came out in force?

I don't remember who, but some people met with SR management and they negotiated that we can still have our meets but they can't start before 10, 10:30.

I think we now have less turn out because it cuts so deep into the day.

I haven't been in ages because I like to be home by 10:30 and do family stuff and I have heard the same sentiment from others.

Hence my suggestion, since we don't have to adhere to SR management rules any more we could start earlier again.

I went back and looked at the discussion in 2009:

and didn't see the later start time as a condition or issue mentioned in any part of the earlier posts. My recollection was that we were already gathering about 10:00AM by that point.

But in any case, that's a minor point, if more users want to gather between 9:00AM to 11:00AM, that's all fine. I think the only way to change the time is the process I mentioned. Go for 9:00AM, broadcast it as many places as possible. Try to get a minimum of one-two dozen cars to show up for a month and get people used to the new time. There's no single person to convince, it's just getting everyone to recognize that cars will be there earlier.

I attend this as much as I can and it seems like people don't start showing up until around 10:15 or so and people seem to stay until around noon or sometimes 1 and nobody seems to mind us at the Century parking lot

SR used to be a great turn out back in 2006-2007. I enjoyed seeing different cars, people and various drives after the meet.

A couple years ago, it started to decline. Now, you'll see the same people and cars.

The winchester theater lot if bigger but pretty sparten.

The place to be is the Cars and Caffeine at Club Auto Sport / Borelli Motors. It's monthly and next one is this Saturday June 9. Starts around 9 and runs to about Noon. There is BBQ and coffee there. Great people and environment.

Hope to see some of you there. I am in an orange gallardo.

Thanks for posting this guys! I am very happy to hear this gathering is still alive and well. I drove by Santa Row one Saturday morning nearly two months ago. I believe it was the weekend after the April 17 tax deadline day. Anyway and there was some fellow driving what appeared to be an Arial Atom, in front of my Alfa Romeo. We drove into the back lot at SR, where the meet used to be, and there was maybe a Ferrari or two parked and an American hot rod, but no one else was around (other than shoppers) and otherwise it looked like the lot was full of commuter cars so we took off.

Enjoyed my time at the facility this morning. Nice assortment of high performance. Open house for all the surrounding shops. This 458 was my favorite.
