The Maser engine was a detuned 430 engine. Sounds like this has been going on for a while? Yea, anything goes when globalists are running the show so a supercharged V6 might be in the cards?

Makes perfect sense fro a business point of view (providing Ferrari make sure they use the right spec grinding wheel for grinding the crankshafts! :p ).

Ferrari have great engine expertise and there's a massive kudos in selling cars with engines built by Ferrari (even if they're not badged up as being built by Ferrari - as they were with the Lancia thema 8.32)

Besides which, The Lancia Stratos, the fIAT dino's, the FIAT 130's, the Lancia Thema8.32 and various Maserati all had Ferrari built engines so it's nothing new.

I'm wondering if Ferrari falls under Fiat Group now for CAFE fuel mileage requirements. Seems like they must, or they would have to get their fleet MPG ratings up higher than where they currently are (A Ferrari platform with a V-6 would obviously help).

Luca says their cars have to get lighter. Well, how about a new V-6 Dino under the Ferrari marque? That would be the bomb.

Also hope FIAT recreates an X1/9 now that they arer back Stateside! I had a yellow '74 X1/9 that was a blast to drive through winding roads. If they made an updated one, I'd be on the waiting list as soon as it was announced.

Did someone say Lancia Stratos? I get goosebumps when I hear that name. They were brilliant.

    Cheers,

    George

Are you sure that the V6 in the 130 was made by Ferrari?

Well, not quite. The block was similar but that's about it. The crank, the pistons, the con rods and bearings, the FI system, and the heads were completely different.

The Ferrari is flat plane. The Maser is not.

    A detuned F430? Hardly.

I wonder what this means in terms of the proposed Ferrari spin off/stock float?

Ferrari will be building a V-6 car and badging it not as a Dino (sadly) but as a Ferrari.

    For F1 next year.

Actually, it's the other way around, the 430 (and 458) is a tuned version of the engine originally put in the Maserati Gransport.
