Mark, thanks for the tip, good idea. Bob, you definitely need more sleep! Big Brother will be watching over you
Hi Mark Be exceedingly carefull with that stuff, suggest you read this. http://www.brewracingframes.com/id75.htm Regards Graeme
I found very important documents for this Khamsin: #230 #232 #240 #244 #246 #260 #298 #352 #366 #384 #390 #402 If the owners of those cars are here on this forum, they should contact me directly ([email protected]) if interested. No, this docs are not coming from the Factory archive!
Hello all, back from Villa d'Este this weekend where I enjoyed meeting PS and LG from Zurich who are both coming to KHAMSIN QUARANTA which hard to believe as it may seem is now just over two weeks away! Participants will get newsletter #2 in the next thirty six hours. We will have 27 Khamsins at K40, that is the car count actually booked with about 60 people and hopefully sunshine as well! Also at Villa d'Este I had the pleasure of meeting another Khamsin owner: Ian Cameron, designer of the current Rolls Royces who was one of the judges both Sunday at Villa d'Este and Sunday at Villa Erba. He owns AM120.052, photo attached, and is one of several important designers to be very fond of the Khamsin design. I also greatly enjoyed meeting Alfieri Maserati, an honor, son of one of the original brothers, Ernesto, as well as the Presidents of the Dutch and japanese clubs and representatives of several Italian, Japanese and German magazines who confirmed they look forward to the K40 report. In other news I just had a kind phone call from the press office at Benetton headquarters in Italy. Lucciano Benetton, it has been stated, bought one of the last Khamsins, arguably the most famous K owner. Well it took a while but the very kind lady from the press office spoke at lenght to his P.A. who has worked for him for 25 years and the candid answer is he never had a Maserati...so there you go. best regards, Marc Image Unavailable, Please Login
while limited to one model this is becoming one of the most important meets for Maserati. thanks all for your post and all the best. makes an old geezer want to be where i cannot.
Hello all: Great news from the UK, AM120341, which had not been started in 5 years came to life today as its full restoration comes to an end in time for KHAMSIN QUARANTA! It looks stunning in that car's original luci del bosco (a very subtle and pretty dark brown, a color lost for decades under bucket load of hasty resale red ans silver paintjobs) and it will get its first drive this afternoon! Bundas don't be too hard on yourself, you are not what you mentioned at all but an "experienced Maseratista" best regards, Marc
Hi Marc I hope we can see some pictures of the car here. Also the Auto Khamsin that was for sale in Melbourne, has a new owner and I believe it has gone to an owner who has a couple of A6G's! Graeme
Marc, I wish you well with K40. Certainly I agree that this will be a great and historically significant event. I'm sure it will all go off very well. Afterwards, please post a report with photos and videos. Unedited is fine. Just get them up here. Best, Carmine
Hi Marc... Best wishes on K40... I know it will be a great event.. How can it not be with so many K's there!!! Just wish I could be there.... I had my K out yesterday as I travelled from Knoxville, TN to Nashville, TN and back - roundtrip of about 300 miles!!! The car ran great, perhaps a little rich, but she sure got the looks and thumbs up from many who saw her!!!! Mike
Dear friends, Sorry for the late reply just back from "500 Ferraris against cancer" (actual count was 430, they had 510 2 or 3 years ago) where I had a great time! Mike, Jack, Carmine, Graeme: thanks for the kind words you are welcome to hop on a plane and come enjoy the concours day with us June 16: just 3 hours from Paris airports: it would be great to have you there and I will buy you a drink! The host hotel is full and the head count for the meals is frozen but there are plenty of hotels nearby in the Dijon Beaune area. Let me know if you want to come and I can help you with logistics. The same applies to any other Khamsin owners just let me know: the public cannot come but Maserati friends are welcome, there are two restaurants on site and there will be an open bar, the concours is all afternoon from lunch till 6. I can provide the location details by email I don't want to put them in a public forum. William that is not my car but that of my friend and publisher Doug. Wish it was! Carmine of course I will post reports and photos, in fact I will do so until someone says that's enough ---but I will need a break of a few days after the event as anyone who has organised anything like this knows all too well right Joe?! Graeme good to know that Sydney car found a good home. Got to drive a Granturismo MC Stradale on the road thanks to Maserati France Sunday, it was wet so I behaved but fantabulous and you know how they sound, that growl is downright luscious I rode in a Ferrari Lusso in the touring rally all day Saturday driven fast by a Brit who drove really well following another silver Lusso, wonderful day in the sun and great roads then I rode in a black F50 during the parade against cancer. Packing up my tent in the rain was less fun but the food was great saw the owner of the Khamsin spyder who is coming to K40 as well as the owner of 016 which has just been finished a couple of weeks ago and the owners mechanic is driving it every day to sort out niggles. This weekend AM120162 was in the touring rally, the owner is unable to come to K40 but it was great to follow it on the road next to a new McLaren! That yellow 456 was owned new by 1982 F1 World Champion Keke Rosberg. That is just one of the great castles we enjoyed saturday. best regards, Marc Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
We had our own K40 meeting this week in Toronto Ontario Canada. 1228 and 1266 meet up again. Cheers Mark Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mark, have you thought about attending Le Belle Machinne in the Poconos this month? We could use a nice Khamsin like yours there. A fellow car nut from your area is bringing his Espada, Gary a.k.a. The Doc will be bringing his beautiful restored car. See the Espada thread. I should have my Espada as well, no Maserati this year though.
Bob and all local F-Chatters, I have in mind to attend on Saturday only for the concourse event. Maybe we can connect for lunch? My K is in a few pieces so I won't be driving it. I'll probably drive out in my Toyota "Quattroporte". Carmine
Absolutely Carmine. I usually have a straw hat on and I sport a full beard. I'll be somewhere around my green Espada at some point and then over with the Maserati folks the rest of the time. I also will have a green Jag there as well. Come say hello. There's a tour on Sunday led by Valentino Balboni (Lamborghini's most famous test driver) along with a slalom event in one of the parking lots that's being run by the Jaguar club. Monday and Tuesday are the track days and you can get a ride with Valentino in one of the Lamborghinis assign to the track.
H Mark, thanks for the photo, your car looks great. How did 1266 wind up in Ontario? was its Georgia based owner enjoying a road trip or did it change hands? I hope it was the former but congrats to the new owner if so. Any news about that early car in the Toronto area? Many thanks in advance for any information best regards, Marc
Bob I would love to come to Le Belle Machinne but I do not think it will happen this year. Marc Yes 1266 was sold to guy who lives about 15 minutes from my house. I have asked him to get in touch with you to update the records. Im working on getting the three car together for a photo shoot maybe this month Another pic Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi All Some one rescue this please!!! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170856334667&fromMakeTrack=true No Title papers surly its correct history can be found. It appears to be an Auto by the scoop on the front and a Euro Spec car. Grave shame if it was broken up for parts. PRICE US$25000 INCLUDE SHIPPING FEE WORLD WIDE PHOTO ON REQUEST car is in Japan and should be RHD Regards Graeme
Graeme to me that looks like a US spec car that's had the bumper conversion. Those scoops on the front are left overs from where the front lights would be (I think). It's a left hand drive, ventilation inlet and LHM spheres/ tank give that away But as you say it would be a shame if broken up. Bal
Small correction: the engine-bay shot reveals that this would be a LHD car, Graeme. Edit: Bal, you beat me to it, and with a much better eye than mine too!
I stand corrected. Your correct, I have enquired about the chassis number. The engine alone is worth the asking price of 25K . I could be tempted as there are people here in Australia who bring cars in from Japan all the time so lets see what happens. I found a bit more info http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page/170381/1975-maserati-khamsin/?utm_source=classic_email_alerts&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=classic_cars_for_sale Graeme
