Now that Austin is on the official FIA calendar, will the race really happen?

  1. Yes, it will happen.

  2. No, no way for construction to finish.

We're looking for a condo. Should we look around Downtown? Are there other areas of town you think might be crackin? Is there a local rag (like we have http://sandiego.sandiegoreader.com/) where we can figure out the music scene as it gets closer? Anything else we should know? Look forward to meeting some other cyber friends. Best, Jim.

Austin Chronicle is the local free press news.....it's a college town so premium real estate stays absorbed during school year..

The track is far to the east of "downtown", Bastrop is actually closer, and a lot of folks are in New Bransfels B&Bs with me!!!

They don't even know what "F1" IS!! LOL!
The Fall is also 'off season' for the summer based river resrts.......

I have had no luck connecting to ticket master through the GP or the Statesman links. I go as for as the wait time screen, then nothing happens after that. It says less than a minute wait, but like 30 minutes and nothing. Anyone else having the same experience?

Checked my email this morning and recieved the email from COTA about the ticket packages and I am going to ask for the GA package for my upcoming b-day present, $159 is not bad at all, is there anyone else going GA?? Also now that I know GA ticket holders are free to move around to all GA area's and all public spaces I'm sold, I guess my email to COTA got through to them.

It is also great that GA ticket holders also have free shuttle although I am curious about the pickup and dropoff locations as I might just stay with a friend who lives on the westside of Austin, probably about 20-30 miles from the track. Anyone know if there is a map yet or should I just call COTA?

Hey remember that Fchat t-shirt idea I had so we could spot other members? Only 5 months away so maybe this should be looked into?

COTA is using TicketMaster as the main source for tickets I assume? If so just call TicketMaster directly as I have had to do that one several occasions through the years when links did not work.

Ferrari Club of America sent out it's ticketmaster link and password (ferrari) today. Just bought 2 in Turn 12 row 37 seats 30 + 31. Heard top row is good, so hope that's right.

Oh man, I soooo wanted to get that top row! Lucky you.

Looks like turn 12 is popular here among the f-chatter crowd; i'm in row 28. I say we hold a revolt and take over the entire section! Somebody better make up a giant f-chat flag so we can hoist it and show the colors.

I wonder if Ferrari will sell Paddock Passes and for how much? At other venues they run around $4500 for all three days, which isn't that bad when you consider what you get.

That was my reasoning for Turn 2 bleachers, it's the highest elevation, look at the Tilke profile.....

For the paddock club? If so, I did. Can't recall what they were asking. $3500? For some stupid reason $4700 seems familiar, too. Just can't recall.

I only got one for the Montreal GP, do you mind forwarding the email to me? The 3,500 is for the regular paddock pass, the 4700 is the Ferrari VIP pass.

    email: [email protected]

    TIA!

If I end up having to buy a ticket, I'm going GA :)

I don't think they've finalized locations yet, but right now, they're thinking Travis County Expo Center, and at some state owned parking garages in downtown Austin. I can't find the PDF of the traffic plan (its on the net somewhere), but here is a little info:
    http://www.statesman.com/sports/formula1/circuit-officials-release-traffic-management-plan-for-austin-2374675.html

Have you talked to Rob yet? I think its a good idea :)

I think I'm just gonna take a pass but I may get one made for myself.

I wish I had the connections that could atleast allow me an introduction, handshake and an autograph from my favorite F1 ever, MS. Buying an autographed picture for me is just not the same and does not hold the personal value. I am down to one last avenue and that is contacting the factory directly. Is there any chance I could get some assistance from those more connected? If not no worries as it never hurts to ask.

Either they have sold most of the good tickets of my deposit oriented opportunity or the best seat button is a ruse.....I tried a dozen times to get better tickets and the only thing I could get was row 3 in turn 3.
