Ho wmany guys here have a front plate on their car? I do not. My dealer said to not do it and if there was an issue say it was on order from the factory. What do most guys here do?

    Nope.

I dont on any of my cars.

I figured if I get pulled over for it, I ll pay it.

If I get pulled over for speeding then I will say give me a ticket for no front license plate and not the speeding

Removed it after 1 month or so and only put one on if I go to a country that will make me drill it in immediately if they stop me (like France)

dealer prepped car without front plate and I drove around without one for a month but got nervous every time I saw a Police car so finally bought a nice front plate mount that comes off easily.

Yep. Didn't have one for three months but after going through a roadblock I installed the towhook mounted one. No need to drill any holes and it doesn't block the pony.

I should mention, in Ohio there is some loophole in the law that does not require a full size plate, only the stickers and numbers according to a friend. You have to really read between the lines in the code though and that doesn't work with a patrolman that stops you, only in court.

Front plates are required in Colorado.

Never have put them on my Fcars.

Never been a problem so far. Been driving w/o a front plate for 12 years.

Dan I have been stopped only once in 12 months and not even given a fine. Worse case scenario it's £30.... No big deal I think ;-)

Never, and never an issue. Got one speeding ticket 6 months ago and there was no mention of missing plate.

Cars are registered in a state which requires front plate but we run all three cars without it.

Due to the fact there is a police station at the bottom of my condo, well TopPot Doughnuts, I decided to put on the removal plate that screws into the tow hook.

I've used both the tow hook and the chair pilot mounts. I've decided to go with the chair pilot because I was concerned that if I had a frontal impact on the tow hook, the force would be transmitted directly to the chassis rather than absorbed by the bumper. The chair pilot can be mounted in the center of the grill and its easy to quickly install/uninstall.

San Francisco police are aggressively ticketing for no front plate. And just yesterday, here in suburban Silicon Valley (45 minutes south), a neighbor who lives a block away told me he was ticketed by a county sheriff's deputy for no front plate for his car parked in front of his house. We both live on hillside cul-de-sacs where the street is approx 1/4 mile long and the only traffic is to houses on the block. His car was parked facing the end of the street (away from the through street) about half way down the block. We take comfort that our neighborhood is being patrolled, but shook our heads when we realized that the deputy must have driven to the end of the cul-de-sac then turned around and noticed no front plate and stopped to ticket ....

I got pulled over yesterday for not having a front plate on my car yesterday in East Hampton, NY. I told him the bracket was on order and i had my front plate and he just didnt care. $185 ticket. Guess im not shopping there this summer bec im not paying $185 just to go run an errand in town now. 1st time that happened to me. Amazed he pulled me over as i was going the speed limit. The police officer didnt even acknowledge my 2 yr old when she said hi....was like a stone wall.

I will never understand giving police PC to stop you over the vanity of the looks of your car. Almost anything else that follows is fair game (not quite, but people talk too much). We get lots of stuff tossed for no probable cause and I'm amazed by how many people give that up (usually modified import cars).

wow, $185. I'm glad I spent the $200+ to get the ChairPilot model, which I just keep clipped on nowadays. You just never know, and a ticket could potentially ruin an otherwise good driving day.

It is a discretionary enforcement item for cops. Many (most) will not see any useful purpose in giving a ticket for no front plate on a car that is obviously recognizable and probably not driven very much. But eventually you will run up against a hard-ass who will stick it to you.

I hope that you don't drive your car less because of this incident. If so, the cop wins.
