Very Nice. I love art like the smoker has to be around the tobacco. Art goes in my veins.
I just bought this more modern piece. John Marin, Brooklyn Bridge 1944.
I collect Jasper Johns, Jim Dine, George E. Ohr, Howard Finster, John Marin, Oldenburg,
    and wristwatches.
I met Leroy Neiman back in 1986 and was going to have him draw me a ferrari, then I thought why not a nude. So, Leroy painted this for me it is about 22" X 18" not exactly fine art, but it was nice of him to do it for me. His best friend in NYC was Phyllis Lucas, she was the early publisher of Dali in the 60's, and Leroy was a huge fan of Dali, Phyllis and Dali were always good friends, so Phyllis introduced Dali to Leroy way back in the early 60's before anyone knew of Neiman. So, that is how we met him, through Phyllis.

What other pieces do you have, just old master works or a variety of works.
    Best,
    John

ARTNNYC - I acquired what appears to be a 17th century painting from a yard sale a few years ago, in a quite affluent area of town. I don't know if it's real or not, but it sure has the patina. I will take picture this weekend of it and try to copy the artist's name the best I can. It's at our second home, it would be interesting if you have any idea about it at all. It's quite large in a very old ornate frame. Maybe something like 32" x 38" or something close to that. I'll measure it as well. I'll post it Monday. Love the Old Masters. Heck I love old things, it's in our 1887 Victorian.

Very close friends of the family in NYC have a very large collection on display at MoMA and the Frick among other places, mainly in NYC and DC. I would bet you probably know them.

Given your specialty, you'd probably be familiar with these two then (not theirs btw, for clarification sake):

I have a David sketch from 1808 which is about my oldest artistic posession... I'm a huge neo classic fan. I paint as well, and have huge respect for the old masters. Rembrant's ability is amazng for anyone today, not to mention someone 400 years ago.

sample of my own here: Future classic? ( NOT!)

    Hi, ARTNNYC --

Could you post approxomate dimensions of "The Death of King Josiah"? I just want to get a better feel for the piece.

PS How's that last great analog supercar treating you?

I do also, $250 even it is just decorative seems reasonable to me. Was it framed for that price? If so, then I definitely like it for $250
