About a month ago I got to get a ride in THE most badass 348 I have EVER been in. A twin turbo charged 348 Challenge. The car is WICKED fast!!! All I could keep saying after my ride was "WOW, WOW........W O W........W O O O W". It puts down 609hp to the WHEELS on a Dyno Dynamics dyno! That equals around 717hp at the crank!

Not only was it incredibly fast, the brakes on this thing were spectacular, and it handled AWESOME. No point having all that power with out being able to stop and corner. The owner was running some really sticky tires, and in combination with the challenge wing, it was planted to the ground. It has some huge AP brakes, a stand alone ecu with traction control and launch control. Not forgetting to mention a 355 6 speed gearbox.

The car is an absolute ROCKET, and was brilliantly built.

Hello Daniel, take a look at the links in Sherpa's earlier post. It gives the information about the turbo build. Great stuff!

    Hey E,

Any idea who's boost gauage that is? They look factory like the fuel guage. Did he take oem guages and gut them and put boost etc in his add ons? I would love to race that beast. How is it getting past smog guy?

The center console is a custom built piece out of billet aluminum. I'm not sure what the gauges are out of, I didn't ask.

Daniel-san, chubbalard, that car is REDICULOUSLY F A A S T. When I went for a ride it was only running on 12lbs of boost, and SOB it pulled like a damn freight train. If you look at the pic of the bottom console you'll see a little turbo button. Push that sucker and the boost goes up to 15lbs. Steve could get even more power out of it, but he has it tuned to run on the horse pissed California 91 octane.

An interesting tidbit - the modified intake system made more power in normally aspirated mode with the low compression pistons than the stock engine. If true, we need to go here. :)

That is really cool. Very clean install and look. I'm sure it's a beast with that much power.

That is amazing, nice detail too. So I guess I will ask, how much does something like that take to accomplish?

I didn't ask, but I know it was not cheap.

The engine isn't the only thing that is modded. The entire suspension system is modified, custom cooling system for the coolant, oil, and intercooler. Plus loads of other very well thought out modifications on this car.

WOW! That is VERY nicely done!

Love the challenge wheels, love the engine and the interior treatment! The nicest turbo mod I have seen in quite a while. :)

My exhilarating ride was on some back roads. But the temp was just fine. The radiators are much larger than stock, as is the oil cooler. Since it's a challenge car it also has an oil cooler for the gearbox. The car was VERY well done.

For all the power the car is pushing it is very drivable and tame at slow speed.
