Just bought a 2006 Murcie roadster...all 4 tires are Pirelli's with a date of 4405, which means they are almost 7 years old, the tread is fine and other than the age I wouldn't be worried...only 6800 miles.....should I buy new for safety reasons?, and if so, should I stick with Pirelli's? (Tire Rack for about $2,600), or is another brand better or just as good?

I think the tire mfgr's say that the age of tires matter, but is that like the Ice Cream mfgr's telling you your ideal weight is 400 lbs??

Michelin Pilot Sport, or super sport are very good tires as well, last lot longer more reasonable price.

Just installed a set of Pilot Sports on our 99. So far they're great. The pirellis are really too aggressive for street use. (they're so sticky they'd probably pull the paint off your garage floor!)
