Did we ever get to the bottom of the A9X brakes etc?
Jurgen Barth,Porsche factory team racer and chief test driver of the period also prefered the 3.0l car over the 3.3l car,but hey what would he know compared to rent boy living in Melbourne.
Yes...they were rubbish. The one I owned wouldn't stop in a straight line...that's if it decided it was going to stop at all.
*shakes head* Even reading the posts in chronological order and grouped together and you still can't understand it. I know I shouldn't be surprised, but I am! Yeah right. Source?
any book on Porsche turbo's. Why did you compare a '86 3.3l Turbo to a GTB 308,when logic would tell you they are in different decades ,when the logical car would be the 3.0 turbo car? what year did you own your 3.3l car?
The more you type, the more stupid you look. You've been given a complete breakdown of what was said, and by whom, and yet you still don't understand. OTOH...a carby 308GTB was available until 1980....so why wouldn't I compare its performance to a 3.3 turbo?? (Not that there's any comparison, but still....) and "any book" isn't a source. You're just making stuff up again.
Of course i understand, why did you compare a '86 turbo to a 308,weither its a '76 car or a '80 car? attack is not always the best form of defence as can be scene by your various posts here. so one would not compare the performance of a 308 in 1980 to a non turbo 911 of the same year? Answer the question, what year did you have your 3.3 turbo? various books i have mention Barth's comments on the 3.0l car, many prefer it for a varity of reason's. 1.its rawness 2.rarity 3.Concept was what Ferry had in mind. 4.its build quality inside the cockpit. 5.1st of the series, its lightness. 6.The rear wing 7.Non inter cooler. 8.Ferry's favourite 911. 9.racing heritage ie 934 cars. its not to say the 3.3 cars were less, they were a step above it ,just they don't get the nod from collectors, why buy a late model G series 911 when you can own a far better car in the 964 series turbo cars.
yes a lot of people ran cheap brake pads and poor grade brake fluid and or did not know how to drive these type cars in relation to the brakes,i think its called riding the brakes.
The fact that you're asking the question shows you DIDN'T understand. The other points? Big deal. It was SUCH a great car that the entry level Ferrari of the time was faster (and prettier, some would say) SO, if you want to compare a 1975 308 to a 1975 930, then the turbo was underwhelming. If you want to compare a 1980 308 to a 1980 930, then the performance of the Porsche is light years ahead. Why do you ask, two dogs? How many have you owned?
until you answer my question,I'm not prepared to enter into any more dialogue on this matter. Could the MODs please remove PP's insame comments on this thread going back about 4 pages.
Hurry up and kiss and make up FFS. All this drivel made me Post this. I never liked the "Look" of the Slant Nose, but after reading all this I am even starting to think they look the same. LOL. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The most interesting thing to me about this whole storm in a tea cup is that there is actually a Porsche section on F-Chat. I've been on F-Chat pretty much since day 1 on the "old" F-Chat site that pre dates this version. That's got to be over 10 years and I never even noticed a Porsche sub forum LOL Crazy that there would be a 30 page thread on a bloody 3.0 litre Porker turbo.
there would be NO porker threads on my forum .... and I've been on fchat since day one as well, could only upset the yanks back then but now get to infuriate as many different nationalities as we like
