I ran my first summer enduro earlier today with a team out of Georgia. Experience was fantastic, tons of seat time, not a single full course yellow, road Atlanta is always a great venue.

The only real negative from the day was the in car temps. Even with the cool suit on it got really uncomfortable to be in the car after 30 minutes. Anything we can do to help?

Believe we found the solution, mechanic was going over the car this morning and the heater had been turned on full fan/heat guessing for the entire race.

Not my car, I just ran with them for the enduro. Asked the mechanic and they left it in so they could still have defrost. One more thing to add for the checklist when I get in the car next time.

That is funny! And B-mak I still have my A/C!!! My SCCA T1 racecar still need ballast to make weight. When I'm waiting on the grid my A/C is going full blast.

I don't know how the guys in forula cars can take the heat especially those sitting on the grid waiting to go wearing black carbon fiber helmets.

Race Car for 24 Hours = no more than $500 at LeMons

Leaving the Heater on during a summer race = Priceless!

I would love to do something like this---Glad you lived to tell the tale!

If your helmet supports it, try a helmet blower. I found these to be more convenient and sometimes more comfortable than a cool suit. It also makes it easier to have some driver cooling while not carrying around the extra weight of the ice/water in the coolsuit system (eg: qualifying).

In my testing/practice car I use the coolsuit box with the integrated helmet blower. For really hot races or when I'm in the car for > 60 minutes on a hot day I'll run both the cool suit and blower. For qualifying or normal temp days I'll just run the blower and remove the coolsuit box or make sure it's empty.

ps: it's nice not having to walk around the pits with the coolsuit tubes dangling out of your pants. LOL!

When I drove the SLS GT3, the air vents took on air from the outside. At speed, the air was rushing in pretty madly. The downside was that if trailing another car, I was advised to turn them away as small rocks could fly in.

You sit there sweating like crazy, but mentally imagine that you are cold and sitting in a snowy, icy location. Sounds crazy, but if you concentrate hard enough, it makes the heat bearable. Once you are moving, you forget all about being hot.
