    Good day All,

Just documenting these cars, as they come up...

The ad is a little light on info, however, if the interior, engine, etc looks and checks out as good as the car looks from the pics... then what a deal!

    Cheers,

    Sam

That *is* a great price, barring major problems. I wonder, Sam, how do you search Craigslist nationally (or internationally)?

"kind of light" on the data is putting it mildly.

How about nothing at all. Auto? Man? Records? Most Ferrari's are "garage kept" wouldn't we all think? If they aren't they are idiot owners...

From three pics I notice that there is not one interior shot, and the front passenger side bumper is rusting out...

    Hmmmmmm.

    Good day Bill,

I wrote a small script for my browser that lets me quickly scan all of the various craiglist sites (cities) for keywords. It isn't perfect, but it does work not too bad... It sure beats searching CL city, by city... which I do on occasion, but only some central cities/areas.

It is too bad that CL does not offer a global search like other sites.

    Cheers,

    Sam

    Good day Matt,

Indeed, I totally agree... however, my comment about the ad being "light on the data" was my attempt at being diplomatic... with a slight touch of sarcasm ;)

    Cheers,

    Sam

I use a site called Adhunter.com (it used to be called allofcraigs.com). It works pretty well aside from showing ads that are no longer active.

Sorry Sam, didn't pick that up. I don't communicate enough with you. I love 400's and would love to have one someday, but wow they seem to be a dangerous lot as you were apparantly expressing even though I couldn't tell :D

    Good day All,

Again, just documenting what I find... Given the info in the ad and the location I suspect it is the same car...

I'm pretty certain that it's not rust. From what I understand, the bumpers consist of a light gauge (14ga. I think) box steel center that was placed in a mold & injected with an elastomeric material. Some suspect it was very similar to the material used in the same period Mopar cars. The rubber like material is about an inch thick on the outside front of it & probably more on the tapered ends, but pretty thin on the back side (the side against the car). It doesn't take much to put a dent in it considering the 4800 lbs. of mass behind it :(

For those who need to smooth out any ripples on the surface, it can be achieved by drilling holes through the box tube on the back side & tapping them out.
Oh, btw guys, this material is paintable (for those who have to have their bumpers 'color keyed'). I wonder why they switched the material to fiberglass on the 412's unless it resists denting a little more?!

    also try searchtempest.com....

it lets you set it a different ways, but most imprtantly let's you search for cars by owner only and then goes through all cities in a radius of your ZIP.
