Sorry you had all this bad luck/broken promises. The upside is that you have a beautiful Ferrari. All the issues can be made right. Did you happen to get the "promises" in writing?

BTW, I just picked up a 360 and live on the Island. We could meet up sometime.

Also, as you know, Bradan is a great source for your work. They did my 430 (when I had it) and it looks spectacular.

I bought a 360 spider from Ferrari Palm Beach last fall. The salesman (Bud) said it was a real nice one and he was spot on. It had all of the options and color combination I wanted so I put a deposit on it and they gave it a full service. Other than their pictures, I did not see the car until I flew down to pick it up. Excellent service along with choice of hat and shirt. They even drove us to the hotel and picked us up the next morning. I drove the car 600 miles home so no shipping involved. Everything as advertised, no surprises except about a month later, I got a check from them for the difference of what the tag and title cost vs what was charged. I was not expecting this so a very pleasant surprise. Being in the high end car service business, there are two sides to every story and most places would appreciate the opportunity to make things right. Hope it works out well.

Seems like it shouldn't be too hard to work out the problems. It's a really great looking 360. That being said...

    Don't buy cars from Florida.

Too bad the excitement of receiving your Ferrari was marred by your experience with this dealer. This really should not happen with an Authorized Ferrari Dealer.

My experience was the exact opposite at Lake Forest Sports Cars. I was worried because they promised to take care of similar issues (alarm siren, alarm light staying on, only one ley and fob) but I failed to get it in writing and wanted to take delivery of the car to enjoy it as it was late October. After having it for a few weeks, I noticed a few additional issues.

I returned it several weeks later, and while it took a little longer than I would have liked, they took care of everything on the list, including a few items that were not on it that they discovered themselves.

They have been true to their word and their customer service has been top notch, as an authorized dealer should be. They won a customer for life!!

I hope your dealer will step up and see things through to your satisfaction.

Wow! I'm surprised this would happen at that Ferrari of Palm Beach. I've talked to those guys before, both salesman and GM. They have been very good to me. They let me test drive a California without me even asking. Very upfront. I was considering buying my next Ferrari from them. I hope everything works out.

I'm glad things worked out for you!, I'm jealous, LOL. I assure you that there are not two sides to this story. I made sure that everything was properly documented so I have e-mails for confirmation. I also recorded the salesman agreeing that everything will be taken care of. I did that because I started to get suspiscious that I was being yessed to death. I welcome anyone on this board to call the dealer to verify my story, and I guarantee that they can't deny anything that I said in my post. If they try to, please PM me and I'll give you my phone# and we can do a 3 way call to them. I would like to hear them deny anything then. I am willing to be mature about this and give them a chance to get my stuff fixed at my local Ferrari dealer. I can then at least tell everyone that I hit a few speed bumps along the way, but they did the right thing eventually and it was just a little inconvenience to me. At this point I'm waiting for a call back from the manager, but it's been 4 hors, so I'm not confident yet that they will do the right thing....I will definitely update, so I can hopefully help others make informed decisions in the future.

Thank you! She definitely is beautiful (or at least will be after the detail). I know it won't be too long before I make it right. Since I have everything in writing, I feel that I shouldn't have to reach into my ppocket for even a penny on the items that were promised to me.
Where on the island are you? I'm from Lake Grove, I also have a friend a little east with a 355. I also became friendly with another member on here thet lives a little west. Maybe we can meet up and have a lunch somewhere all together, or maybe a c&c? PM me.

Sorry for the previous multi posts, I just figured out how to do multi quote! LOL
Thank you. I agree, it shouldn't be too bad to sort it out. Like I said previously though, it's the point for me.

Thank you! I'm sure once it's detailed and it proves to be reliable, I will not be able to wipe the smile off of my face!

I wish I bought from the same place you did! They sound like what I expected a Ferrari dealer to be. I'm like you, If I am a happy customer, they won me over for life. I've definitely felt that way about Costco for the longest time, and after this incident, they take the cake for the best company on the planet! (I can't blame my tire issue on the dealer) I am also hoping the dealer realizes how bad it looks for them if they don't do the right thing, and cover the bill for the corrections.

Everyone was VERY pleasant. They were all very nice people before the actual purchase. They stroke you constantly. Very easy going and nice. I never waited more than 10 minutes for a call back, they make you feel special. I didn't go there for that though. I just wanted to buy a good car. Unfortunately, once the check was handed over, it was obviously harder to get a call back from them. They also would say no problem whenever I reminded them of what was promised to me. They almost made me feel bad for constantly reminding them, like I didn't trust them. But my gut kept telling me that they really didn't care about my car. I even told my friends that I was getting a bad feeling and my gut is almost never wrong. When I get those feelings, I'm probably more than 99% correct. Unfortunately, I was correct one more time.

I hope that Ferrari of PB with sort out the issues but tend to agree with people who think that it's a lost cause. A few years ago, Tustin Lexus damaged my new car and refused to take responsibility and tried to accuse me of trying to pull a fast one. Went all the way to the local rep and US corp office locally and got them to reimburse me in the form of future service. Never did admit they damaged my new car. Lexus is suppose to have the best customer service and if Lexus acts this way I really have no hope for anyone else. I assume the worst and if they are not then I'm pleasantly surprised; otherwise it's as expected. Personally, I really doubt that Ferrari dealers care about having a customer for lift or loosing one since there are plenty of people who want to buy a Ferrari.

Is it Joe? If so...too funny. If you were in Miller Place between 1993 and 2000, you may know me as well. I was the guy operating the 614 car (it is now the 611 car, things got changed around). If you don't understand, PM me and I'll explain.

Unfortunately, you are right about people with responsibility and accountability. I can't help but wonder why people can't just do their jobs the way they are supposed to, and when a mistake is made, just own up to it? I hope you are wrong that my attempts are a lost cause! lol What is wrong with this world?!!!!

First of all congratulations on your acquisition, you won't be disappointed with the performance of that car. As for the inconveniences that bad dealer caused, get what you can from them and move on, chalk it up to the cost of the education! The dealer will get some unwanted notoriety
On FChat from this and perhaps you will save someone else from the same problems. Good luck, enjoy the greatest car you've owned to date!

It sounds to me as if you have every right to feel aggrieved. However, and on the bright side, at least you'll be able to rectify most of the problems with a couple of batteries (for the remotes), a new siren (which you can get for about $70), and a damn good detailing. I know, you shouldn't have to do any of this yourself, but it could be far worse.

    Thanks Joe,
I want to give them the opportunity to make it right, before I chalk it up to a learning experience. I'm hoping that they care enough about not tarnishing their reputation. Everybody makes mistakes, it's how they are handled that seperates the gentlemen. Hopefully my experience helps others. It may cost me $1,000 extra, but I may save tens of thousands for others.
Did you get the 458 yet? I'm excited to hear about it! You must be going crazy if it didn't come yet?

I agree, after breaking it down, I came up with the same conclusion. I'm sure a good detailing will cost about $500 though. It's not really the money for me at this point. I'm a man of my word, and I unfortunately hold others to the same standard when it comes to business. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I practiced business the way some of these dealers do.

+1; Thanks F430GT, I hate to be the one that points this stuff out. Makes me look bad.

    >> Welcome to Ferrari ownership and the community <<

    0. It is a community and there are educates.

    1. You seem to be easily irritated. Launching in to rant after rant over trivial issues. A dead remote battery, really? A bulb that does not work, really?

    2. There are several decaffeinated coffee brands with just as much flavor without all of the caffeine.

    3. The car is a decade old. It sounds perfect for a decade old car. Perfection is an illusion.

    4. The paint was never "great" on the 360s (as F430GT pointed out) and even a brand new 458 has serious paint issues from the factory. Please do not buy a 458, you could end up in the hospital. The paint was like that when you viewed it. Heavily damaged paint can be improved by a professional detail, and hopefully you can get it to the point you want it, but in reality it may need to be repainted. Walk through a parking lot and try and find a 10 year old car with perfect paint.

    5. You should never disparage a dealer before giving them a chance to make things right. You have failed in this regard. I am glad you are not my customer.

    6. The car had an As Is Where Is - no warranty sign on it. Pre-purchase hearsay does not alter this fact.

    7. I also hate liars and lead by example. I am, however above calling someone a liar, to their face, or in a public forum. It sounds like the dealership made some mistakes on verifying three batteries and one bulb. The salesperson may not be the point of failure because he/she should have delegated to the service department. At any rate there were some failures made by the dealership in communication and/or execution. Escalating to calling names is petty.

*Disclosure: I have no specific love for or affiliation with Ferrari of Palm Beach, but out of all of my vehicle purchases, my experience with them on a used 430 was the best to date. Perfect; no, but a very good experience none the less. Was my car perfect; YES, as perfect as a 5 year old car can be.

I understand your frustration but if you felt that you had to record the conversations then you probably shouldn't have bought the car from them. Further, if you were my customer and if I felt you didn't trust me then I would not deal with you. Sounds like you should have moved on. I have never heard of anyone doing that for a car purchase. Seems a bit whacky.

Trent, you totally mis-judged my personality. I won't say anymore about that for now, it really doesn't matter. However I can understand how you came to those conclusions. It is very hard to make a judgement on me by reading the words, and not hearing a voice or seeing body language. Or knowing all the details that led up to my response here. There was more stuff, but it would just be impossible to touch on every single detail. I am actually a very calm and fair and reasonable person until I get blown off, or lied to. If you carefully read all my posts, I didn't say anything along the lines of "don't buy a car from them" I actually said a few times that I want to give them a chance to take care of the stuff that was promised to me. I am upset at the little things like the bulb and the remote because I directly asked him to check them and they should have been checked during the 101 point inspection anyway. He went out of the room, came back, and said that all 3 were fine. When I spoke to the salesman today I even told him that I'm not angry at that because that stuff could have failed in the three days that it took for the truck to deliver the car to my house. Even up to now we have been gentleman with each other and I said I was going to hold back judgement until I see how this is handled. If the salesman/manager handles it like a gentleman, everyone here will know that I am happy. If the opposite happens, they will also know. The other two issues are the ones that aggravate me. The alarm and the paint damage should have absolutely, no questions asked, been fixed! I will not budge at all about that because it was spoken about with the salesman, as well as the manager..several times. They even had a 430 in the showroom that I showed them and said "this is how I want it to look when it's detailed, so make sure that they don't use any fillers or anything temporary to fix it" that car was black and it looked great. Their response.."no problem we are going to get the best guy in town, we aren't even going to use our own guys to do it. This guy comes with big lights and a magnifying glass and does a perfect job!". My personal opinion, I think they sent a blind guy to detail my car! I'm not kidding, look at the photo above. I don't care how old the car is, if there are swirl marks in the paint, they can be removed with paint correction which is what they were supposed to do. There is no reason for my 12 year old truck with 65,000 miles used in all weather, to have a much better finish than this car with 3,000 miles. As far as calling someone a liar, I don't believe that I called him a liar, if I did, I am sorry. What I did say is that I was lied to! and I was, so that's a fact, not name calling.
As far as paint issues. There is a difference between factory paint defects, and improperly washed cars that have repairable swirlmarks. I have to guess that you don't detail cars based on your stance.
As far as being your customer goes. If you always try to do the right thing for your customers. I actually AM THE CUSTOMER YOU WANT, because I am the type that will tell 100 friends no matter what. If I am unhappy, they will know, and if I am happy they will also know! Most people only make noise when there is a problem. I will support and make sure that I put out the good word for a good honest business man that deserves it. If you were my friend you would know that pretty quickly.
Your#6 response makes no sense to me. I don't know if I mis understood what you are trying to say, but I'm not asking for anything that wasn't agreed upon before the purchase was made. I just purchased a car at top dollar, and asked to receive a top dollar car. Nothing more, nothing less.
Again I'm glad you had a good experience with them, I will not try to take that from you. I am just hoping that by the time the dealer finishes dealing with me, I also have a happy ending to this. (See post below)
Thank you for your input. This is a forum where all opinions should be welcomed, not only one persons view of how things should be!
The whole intent of my post, if you read all the posts carefully, is to tell everyone what I experienced so any potential buyers can act accordingly. This is true for any dealer, I'm not bashing this single dealer. I wish someone posted what I did before I bought, I probably would have made arrangements to stay down there until the car was prepped to my satisfaction before it was shipped to me. I would not have had any issues then, and I'm sure I would be one of those people with only positive things to say. LIke I said in my previous post, while I was down there, they treated me like royalty and everything was great. I'm not going to take that away from them. I only speak the facts. I am trying my best to keep emotions out of this post completely.

I understand what you are saying about trust. What you don't know is that a few weeks before I found this car, I wasted about $1,000 and 2 days flying to North Carolina to look at a car that "needs nothing, and belt and yearly service was done". I got down there to find out that the yearly service was NOT done, and the owner did not want to budge at all and pay for it to be done, prior to selling it to me, even though it said that in his ad! I was willing to eat it at that point because I went that whole way (if it was a local car I would have immediately left for a matter of point). Trent doesn't want me to call him a liar, so I won't , call it whatever is appropriate....It then got even worse. I paid for a PPI and found out there was about $8,000 in work required (main problem was a faulty steering rack). As you might guess, the seller didn't even budge a penny! I had to walk away from that deal and fly home without a car and of course aggravated! Do you think I was going to make that mistake again? When I found the car in Florida, I made sure that I covered everything, so I don't have a repeat of what happened to me a few weeks prior to this purchase. As soon as I sensed that I was being yessed, just to appease me, I was on guard and made sure I wouldn't be caught with my pants down again. I may be a little wired up or even a little paranoid with this deal, but I'll tell you now, I'm not stupid. I learn from my mistakes.

Some good news. I just spoke to the salesman Lionel about an hour ago. He was a gentleman as usual. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the things that weren't done. In the beginning he tried to tell me that there is no siren in the car, and it just has an immobilizer. I had to firmly explain what the problem is with it (internal battery), he said he will look into it and get back to me tomorrow. I also explained that my main gripe was the detail job, or lack thereof. I gave him the benefit of the doubt with the non working remote (probably just a battery) and the marker light. I told him that they probably failed in the three days that it was shipped, and it was no big deal for me to take care of them. I did however clearly state that I wanted something done about the alarm, and the detail job. He then said "don't worry I will make you happy no matter what. I will look into it and call you tomorrow".
Hopefully there is good news and he does the right thing. I'm hoping that I can just take it to my local Ferrari dealer to have the work done. I even offered to do the labor on the siren if they just send me the part. I will keep the forum posted on my progress.

My 458 is scheduled for July 16th delivery to the US. I'm not sure it will make that schedule or not, the dealer is optimistic so we'll just have to see. I'm going crazy waiting for this new car. Since my 360 sold I've been without a Ferrari and I can tell you it's not a good feeling. Final thoughts on your experience, buying a car is an emotional experience, your expectations were high based on the promises the dealer made. In sales we call this "managing expectations", if you tell a customer to expect something then as a salesman you must deliver. That's pretty basic, I don't blame you for your disappoint. Chin up !

I can't believe you have to wait another month!! That's going to be torture for you. I'm very excited for you. I can't wait to hear a report on it when you get it. That is my favorite car, period! Thank you for your view, it's nice to hear an obviously proffessional response from someone with actual experience. I also deal with alot of people in my business, and I follow the same exact model as you. That is the reason I closed all the loop holes before I even went to Florida. I wanted to make sure he understood EXACTLY what my expectations were prior to me even going down there. If I hadn't done that it would be unfair for me and him as well. Actually, trying to negotiate a deal without being in front of the product is obviously not the best tactics. Unfortunately, in this situation there are not many options, and I obviously knew the risks going in. If they don't do the right thing, I will obviously be disappointed in the way it was handled. I will also not hesitate to make the experience know in order to help others. However, it still isn't that bad and life goes on! At this point, according to my conversation with the salesman earlier today, I have to assume that they are going to cover the repairs necessary and this will all end as a happy conclusion.
