I could imagine the look on the faces going by!
Dear Joe, Do you have any idea when and where this particular Miura was originally delivered ? Two of the cars that we have traced back to Ashraf both have 'MC' (Monte Carlo) stickers, namely a Mercedes 300sl Roadster and the Countach. The Countach even has a sticker of the dealer in Monte Carlo where the car was bought on its rear window. Interestingly, both cars were subsequently given as gifts to the Crown Prince. The Crown Prince subsequently had a Momo steering wheel added to the 300sl to give it a more sporting touch ( the innocence of youth ?) and the car still resides on display at Saad Abad Palace which is now a museum. The history and fate of the Countach is already known. Apparently, during her frequent trips to Monte Carlo, it was not uncommon to pick up and ship home the latest car that caught her fancy. Do you have any info on this particular Miura ? Was it one of the Monte Carlo cars ? Any insights and information would be most helpful. Warmest Regards, Ramin

The factory notes for 4761 on December the 18th 1970 simply say "Emani, Iran" but this could simply be the name of the gentleman at the Iranian embassy in Rome who ordered the cars for the Royal family. I am aware that she kept a home in Cannes & in Monte Carlo though.
Great period picture. I wouldn't be surprised if the 350GT in the background is Ferruccio's personal car (#0265).
I think you may very well be right. Bob Wallace had just driven the Miura over from the factory. This series of images are exclusives were taken by my neighbor who happened to be in Casino Square that weekend and thought: "what the ---- is that?!" He had them stashed away on color slides, and he was kind enough to give them to me for use in my book. Even though the arrival of this Miura in Casino Square is oft-reported, these are the only images I have ever seen that prove it was there. Doubtless there are others, and I'd love to see them too.
Joe, I'd love a higher res zoom in on that 350GT if possible? And is that car's licence plate readable in the slide? Email me.
Don't know if any of you know a certain Frenchman Gerard Gombert, but apart from a massive collection of many, many interesting cars, left to be rotten in his garden, he's also has one or two Miura's. (No photos, except from a complete Miura engine). But the biggest worry all is the following statement: The sad part is that none of this is available and that after his death, his will says, the whole lot will be crushed. hello oh yes some of us know about him in france... ! He had two miuras. One (very original) was sleeping in his garage until it was sold back in 2007 (not officialy confirmed and i don't know what it became...) and the other one is still there .But it is too far gone, lying outside under a pile of rusted parts... don't even think about a restoration.. And there are other great motoring treasures rotting away here... Ac ace bristol, an ex le mans alpine a210... such a shame that he wants to have them destroyed, especially for all the alpines made out of plexiglass The le mans one is really authentic and is a precious part part of french racing cars history Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
wow, maybe after his passing the family could have a judge rule he was not sound when he wrote his will and over turn it so they could sell the cars.
I've just read in post 18 in the link below that Steve McQueen owned a Miura. Is this true and if so does anyone have any details? Thanks in advance. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1372&highlight=14897
Not true. McQueen was a cool guy, but did not own a Miura. Which is why no pictures exist, unlike all of Mc Queen's cars which were well-documented because he shared his cars and exposed them to family, friends & enthusiasts. Here is a cool guy who DID own a Miura. Actually he owned 2. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks, Joe. Did Miles have an SV? Do you have an opinion on whether Steve McQueen actually owned the 275GTB/4 being restored by Classiche? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=371679
Haven't looked into McQueen's 275 GTB/4, although I am facilitating a great example as we speak. FWIW I think Ferrari are very smart with Classiche. My understanding is that Mile's first Miuras was a P400S (seen in pic) and the second was an SV. He bough both cars from Bob Grossman, but chassis numbers have been elusive.
Thank goodness he didn't paint his Miura like this! In that psychedelic era musicians would often paint their sports cars in wild liveries (Joplin, Lennon et al), but Miles had some class.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Did any of the Beatles or the the Rolling Stones have a Miura and does Paul have any Ferraris or Lamborghinis now?
