Thanks mate. My ex-pad was a long rect land & can squeeze 4 cars as it is in the front yard so I told them to park 2 more into the living room, shift the entire living room to 2nd floor facing rear which has a nicer view anyway since it was on slight elevated land overlooking the neighbourhood. Total build-in was max @ 4900sqft. The swimming pool was a killer for costs as they estimated it weighs 60tons & there's a basement laundry room etc as well. I wanted those industrial look with exposed pipings & industrial grade switches etc. U get the idea but can't show too much here as the design is copyrighted. He actually wanted to enter competition with this & even designed some the furniture for me! The dining table is in concrete too & he even did the BBQ pit in the rear yard. Whole structure is pre-fab concrete with cues from Tadao Ando. The brown facade you see is copper plates that'll turn green with age, like those cathedral roofs in EU. I found the rotating disc from a wholesaler in Shenyang @ US$15K only so you drive the car into the living room & it'll rotate you out but need to recess the floor & provide drainage. We didn't solve the door though. Probably do something like those Fire station! Anyway, sold the place to finance my cars I'm probably the craziest petrolhead Well, like you said I spend so little time here that I think it's too posh for me. I also have pics of that Jap house with lift to the 2nd floor & showed it to my architect. That owner is my idol!!! Maybe I can ask Fong to build this in Jb for Rm1.5million ^^
Will check out your thread, it must have lovely stuff. Roller shutters? They're easy to find, aluminium & you can have it motorised for decent price but there'll be a box up there.
The house in this picture looks mighty familiar *wink* I hope none of our brothers lives there. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sgseen/caught_in_the_act/1167738/boys_with_laptops_gather_outside_house_at_somerset_to_steal_wifi.html
Mate your architect cant copyright the design as u paid for his service. The plans are yours to keep. Either way it sounds like a stunning design. Not roller blinds mate. Replacing all the external blinds on my house with metal louvered shutters. The fabric just got too brittle with age. Copper is a great idea... Very nice patina over time. As for the houses on the thread in L4P, the only nice ones are posted by Cadencem3. The others are a bit generic and weak in design.
http://www.asiaone.com/News/Latest%2BNews/Singapore/Story/A1Story20120620-354091.html this is just AMAZING
I thought this was even more amazing: http://www.asiaone.com/News/Latest%2BNews/World/Story/A1Story20120620-354141.html Btw does anyone know who manages the Big Splash (car park)? Was there a couple of days ago and they were repainting the signs on the road, with no warnings about wet paint whatsoever. Low car + wide tires = paint spatters everywhere. New car too Thankfully car was freshly waxed so hopefully there's no lasting damage but I'd just like to tell the management not to be so lackadaisical next time.
I will have to inform my workers to be more professional next time. Slack turds. They were preoccupied thinking about not looking into cars to make sure they didn't spot any monkeys in the wild.
Derek, didn't know you like boys? Well, it was in design stage & I won't be able to afford him had he not been a friend. http://www.amagroup.it/ This is his company but you should see some of his studio projects & he's building a $30m house that looks like a spaceship in holland area with a moat around it Oh or would you want to consider external blinds that provide privacy & alters the facade a little? Think the guy above might want to file claims against you
Yes mate... Have external blinds already.... But need to replace them as they got shredded..... Ah ok bud... He does some serious work.... This was my architect.... My house is in the website somewhere too.... http://www.hyla.com.sg/html/index.htm
HAHAHA!! that's hilarious Derek! I had some of those like b#$*@$%s sat behind my house when i lived up the road from you as well.. lucky i moved into the jungle ! the monkeys and snakes don't steal my wifi! Since you moved out, i've passed by our old hood and seems the house owners aren't bothered as verrrry dirty now tsk tsk.
Oh great! i will def get in touch with you once i decide when would be a good time to take over. Yeah that rally trip would be fantastic to do. I do the Gumball a lot, and i'm trying to convince the organizer to do an asian one...! But the old school rally's like you do and of course that traditional one would be epic. No, i wouldn't say the up date is essential. They are classics, the temperament and problems are part and parcel of joy! G
AMA is doing our Hamilton Scotts for us...yeah the one with car lift up to 29 storeys! Mercurio's the man
Nah, if I wanted to file claims I'd have lawyers go deal with the monkeys (???), and not just post here. Had the slack turd actually used his turpentine rag before he was stopped, then yeah, maybe. Friend of mine had a house in the botanic gardens area with a moat too. Could swim all around the house with piped-in underwater music. Awesome stuff.
http://therealsingapore.com/content/video-older-woman-argues-ah-lian-over-priority-seat-mrt It makes me sick after i watch this video. The young girl on the video gave up the seat to the auntie and the auntie continues to abuse her. Even saying that the girl is probably from China. What is wrong with Singaporeans these days. Just because she is older does not entitle her a priority seat. She seem healthy to me, fully capable of standing. These days, Singaporeans like to blame foreigners for everything. We should not forget we are a country of immigrants. I cannot imagine the abuse some of these Chinese immigrants/guest have to endure. My staff from China are the most hard working bunch of employees. I wish i can say the same about some of my younger Sporean staff.
Foreign, female colleague of mine was pushed to the floor of the train (supposedly by accident) by an older gentleman. The other commuters stared at him and he started shouting at my colleague to make it seem like it was her fault. She just cried. It wasn't the first time she'd faced such discrimination, and she is super quiet and anti-confrontational. Sad truth is that anti-foreigner sentiment has hit a high. Too many immigrants in a relatively short span of time with non-existent integration policies = pressure cooker waiting to explode. (Tbh though I think that particular auntie was just plain loco).
Unbelievable. That she scolded the young girl continuously. And that she generalized about people from China. I also can't believe the complacency of other Singaporeans sitting around. Bunch of gutless fools. I would have definitely made a stand and told the old hag to shut the f up as she is only embarrassing herself and no one else. Rather than react with aggression, best to treat her like an imbecile and embarrass her for her ridiculous behavior. Heck I've never stood down from a fight whether it's mine or anyone else's. Why on earth was everyone else just keeping quiet. Not like she was gonna pull a gun or knife.
not really ... locals are programmed from birth to follow the straight and narrow ... to a great extent, singapore is like disneyland ... the government is the ONLY body that takes any form of action ... to put it in context, imagine the same incident in new york or LA ... dayam ... that b**** would be soooo f***** up !!!
A lot of Singaporean angst about mainland Chinese invading our shores lately. They forget that a lot of us have China roots. My father came over by boat from Guangzhou when he was 6 years old. Before that my paternal grandfather also.
The Singapore govt have been cultivating behavior through the paternal way it manages the country. It tells it's citizen they will be fine if they litter. Singaporeans today are the least gracious for a first world economy. If there is no fine for littering, i am sure Singapore will be filled with litter. Before you get off a lift, another Singaporean will be charging in. We have become a selfish lot. Kia Su is the nice way of putting it. The aunty sees a priority seat and expects the young girl to jump up and offer her the seat, since she did not, give her a lesson. It's her right to the seat, she's a senior citizen. The worry here is Singapore looks like a disneyland gone wrong. What also bothers me is a lot of Singaporean blame foreigners for everything under the sun. From crowded trains to higher property prices. If there is anyone to blame it's the govt. poor policy planning, on one hand bring in more immigrants, on the other hand not doing enough in services to accommodate increase demand. So in order to improve public transport, the govt puts $500 million of our money to buy more buses and GIFT them to the bus company which is a private entity. Best part, nobody objects.
