Glen, to me it is a privacy issue.

You are, WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF THE OWNER , placing pictures of their vehicles along with plate numbers in a forum for the WORLD to see. A world that is full of opportunistic, and less than scrupulous individuals who have now been given easy initial access to bits of information about the owners of these vehicles.

This is information that can be expanded upon and then used in a myriad of ways, all of which may be detrimental to the financial and physical well being of the unsuspecting owners and more importantly their spouses and children.

Just thought I'd put this out there to gauge interest (thanks for the suggestion, Cam!)

This Saturday, June 23rd, Weyburn is putting on their annual Car Show & Shine. It's usually a big affair (I think usually about 250 cars at least) - they block off Main Street and a few other side streets for the Show & Shine, have a live band, etc., etc. The usual entrants have American Muscle cars, hot rods, etc., but it would be cool to have some of the crew down to show Weyburn some exotics!!

I believe there is a little interest already. How about Cars and Coffee on Thursday night, at Le Macaron, at 7:30, to discuss?

Registration is at noon, but from past experience, if we want to get lined up beside each other, we should register earlier - say, 11am. We could wash cars at my house early Saturday morning, and then go register. The events are geared towards the evening, but from what I understand, most of the traffic occurs during the afternoon.

.......which brings me to the SECOND event of the day. There is also a Lumsden Track Day with the BMW Club. It starts at 5pm - everyone is to meet at Dilawri BMW at 4:45 or so, then drive out to Lumsden, set up the layout followed by a group parade lap to get accustomed to the layout (it's usually pretty easy), with first driver on the track at around 17:30. It is a BLAST - don't even need to have a crazy fast car to enjoy it! There is a girl out there with an old Isuzu Impulse AWD that is tearing it up, and one of the faster guys drives an old (albeit pristine, and modified++) Chevy Malibu. Autocross format - one car on the track at a time, timed. NO pressure - everyone's there just to have fun. Helmet is good, but if you don't have one, there are always lots to go around. There will be mostly new guys out this weekend, so no worries about making a$$es of ourselves - everyone will be just as new to it .

We'd have to leave the Weyburn Show & Shine around 3:30 or so (we could always join the track day late, as the evening will be loooooong at this time of the year, and we have the track until dusk).


How about Cars and Coffee at Le Macaron on Thursday at 7:30 as usual, and we can talk about the show and shine, and perhaps the track day? Regardless, cars and coffee would be great! Weather's supposed to be nice, finally, too

For those interested in just the track day, participants are meeting at Dilawri BMW at 4:45 on Saturday (June 23rd).

Requirements are few - drivers are responsible for their own safety inspections (which is easy), and a helmet is required - there will be tons of them out there, though, so you can borrow one if needed. Make sure your tires are inflated to at least factory spec, and probably more (most guys run around 40psi).

Regarding the pictures, I will try to filter and edit them asap, but still it gona take like 1-2 days .. I took like 50+ pictures today .. Hopefully I will get it done soon !!

WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW I had sooo much fun today .. Thanks Allan, Cam, Derrin, Brian for the lovely company .. And not to mention the drive back to Regina !! Never had soo much fun driving, though my acura was not able to keep pace with the beasts

I really wanted to come to Lumsden but I have work tonight, so mayb next time .. Regarding pictures I will try my level best to post them asap !!

 

The only time my car will ever be out in front of any of these cars (while parked) lol. I needed to capture the moment. Deadly time at the track and nice laps Allan.

Just wanted to send out a little public thanks to Cam, Darren, Doug, Del, and Drew, for taking the time to come down to Weyburn for the Annual Weyburn Car Club Show and Shine. It was a fantastic day, and a worthy cause. Cheers, guys. Hope to see more of us down next year, if it works out!

Unfortunately, we had to leave early, as there was a track day in Lumsden. Phil and Tanya - wish you could have made it out - next time!!! (Next Autocross day is on July 7th). Hope to see you there!
