After fears of assuming too much, a lot of thinking, and trying to work around schedules and commitments I have come to the conclusion that I cannot accept the generosity of those on Av-Chat who offered to subsidize a trip to Oshkosh or Reno. I recall that I'm 86 and closely attached to some physicians and their ever present need to guide old souls through life. I'm uncomfortable with the aspect of using the hard earned money of others for my pleasure so I say thank you for your kindness and generosity. The ol' goat will keep painting and writing and telling all those big lies.
    Thanks guys.

Holy crap... you're EIGHTY SIX??? I would NEVER have guessed that after
our lunch last summer. God bless ya man for being such a vibrant active guy - not
just here but in "real life". I truly enjoyed meeting up with you.

May we all be so active and young at the age of 86 and may you see another 40.

All the best to you Bob

Bob, you discount the pleasure your knowledge, experience and generosity bring so many of us. If your health won't allow a trip, I'm sure we'd all understand.

However, I'd ask you to consider all the exceptional people you've met over the years. I think the offer extended was borne of a genuine desire to meet such a person beyond the veil of the internet.

Whatever you finally decide, I know the phrase, "the honor of your company would be greatly appreciated," is more than an empty greeting-card phrase in this case.
