This idea has been tossed around and I doubt it will come to fruition, but I sure would like it too.

BTW: Regarding the picture in the article: I stayed at that hotel when this occured and had the pleasure of taking pics right from my room of the F1 cars thundering by. Was awesome.

    Cape town please.

The UK has so many tracks it'll be unnecessary for a london GP track. Cape Town would be fantastic, SA has a crapload of F1 (and mainly Ferrari!) fans. GP would be sold out guaranteed.

    Bernie to fund it himself..

Methinks he is trying to create news to deflect away from his shenanigans with Gribkowsky.

Much as would like to see a race in the old smoke.

I will, as soon as I get access to those pics. No worries.

I remember that event well. I was totally lucky, didn't plan it at all. It was all put together at short notice. I went to work in the morning and saw all the street signs and barricades and when I tried to get back to my hotel in the evening it was an absolute zoo: Tens of thousands of people on both sides of the street. It was a struggle just to get back to the hotel with police barriers and all. People went nuts: They climbed lamp posts, awnings of shops and some even up the walls on buildings. It was a miracle nobody fell to their death.

The cars did short 100meter sprints, revving the engine and smoking the tires. IIRC there were McLaren, Ferrari, Jaguar, Williams and Jordan. It was a great first act leading up to the British GP (to which we also went of course).

That said I agree with kraftwerk that this is nothing but a diversion tactic by Bernie. I cant see this ever happen in a congested city like London which is also very environmentally concious. People would have a fit over this and toss the mayor out. And that's not even considering the costs.

Wait, but those contest ads by Santandar & Button seem to elude a bridge portion to the circuit?

that track looks awful, most if not all the turns are 90 degrees.

    Bingo!

Like a great magician he is a master of misdirection.

Besides that I doubt Liz would be amused by all the noise outside her bedroom window.

i guess profitability is the main thing for bernie, thus spain having 2 gp ...i can certainly see a london gp selling out seats (unlike some other gp  ) ...the only negative i see is the security, on that route, what a nightmare in that regard

Thanks. Yeah isn't it unreal to be at Picadilly and imagine that once F1 cars roamed the streets.

BTW: look at that Minardi and how outdated it looked compared to the rest

Today they all look about the same

My goodness...what a shambles! Imagine if someone fell from one of those wall signs that they so cleverly climbed up? Who'd they sue? Or is the USA only? :)

I can't fathom how they would clear the streets to even arrange the track. Tear gas maybe? That place is like Times Square level busy.
