Came across this recently. http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-trucks-1997-Ferrari-355-Spider-Convertible-W0QQAdIdZ391469144 Any thoughts on this. Do you F guys think this could be a fun daily driver or would the maintenance too overwhelming.
yes - it'd be a fun daily driver yes - the maintenance will be overwhelming yes - sounds like a problem canvas top when should be cloth, top doesn't work anyways, carbon hard top in it's place? that's awkward in a country that might rain now and then. if he states 7/10 with a repaint and no service records i'd suggest it's a lot worse off than that. First Fcar should be fun, not a basket of challenges.
This car belongs to an Fchatter and it's also listed in the ferrari ads right here on fchat. I sent a PM last night while he was online and he didn't respond??? Not sure what's up with this one???
Put a good cage in and track it. You could probably end up into it for under $20k after parting the interior and other unnecessary bits. If it's still floating around in 6 months, I'd be tempted to do exactly that.
There was a long write up about this car owned by F-man on this forum. see http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=266200&highlight=Jett+tops I believe he sold the top to Ricambi ---search Jett Tops http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=340042&highlight=Jett+tops & http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=340041&highlight=Jett+tops
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-355-Spider-/170867878634?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item27c884eaea Bidding is already up to $29k on ebay.
Great car to part out at this price. A shop could make a nice profit on this if the engine and tranny work.
Jedi, you're a nice man. This car is a wailing good deal and yes I am selling it. ONLY because I found a 355 F1 GTS for a steal of a deal. Someone (hopefully from F-chat) will get a hell of a strong car for a steal. It is not perfect by any means but I paid 38K for it 3 years and 20k miles ago BEFORE we fixed it with original Ferrari Parts. No Guide issues,No damaged frame and the dash is better than many 60K cars. I'd say its a good start for the the important parts being solid. Three black ferrari's is a little ridiculous for my garage. I made a mistake putting on Kijiji, bunch of tire kicking broke A holes. I'm telling all those guys now that it is sold. I have a beautiful set of 3 piece, Black centers, chrome lip HRE's for sale for a 360/430 too!
Yep, her and I rolled in the hay A LOT. She never said no and I was always satisfied, just like a man should be. Ready for the next batter. and I didn't leave this one with a complex.
It's actually very much doable. A good friend of mine has imported two Subura WRX STIs that had rebuilt titles. A colleague of mine has also imported a 911turbo with a rebuilt title. f-man also seems to have been able to accomplish it, already: Image Unavailable, Please Login
RIV says on their site that it isn't possible for any car with a salvage or rebuilt title. If there's a work around, that's pretty cool.
Good day, Riv only applies or has an involvement if the car is newer than 15 years... Also, regardless of the RIV involvement/approval, some areas will not allow provincial registration of some cars (even non rebuilt or non salvage)... Here in Alberta, the last I checked, which was a few years ago, would not issue AB registration to salvage or rebuilt branded cars. The fellow I spoke to was in charge of AB's vehicle registration department.... of which I may still have his contact details somewhere. Anyway, potential buyers should check with their local registration office to enure that they can register such vehicles. Cheers, Sam
not true, you can absolutely import them...or at least you could a few years ago. A client bought a savalge titled viper and it comes in the same way but has to go for it's on special inspection to verify the frame is within 2mm of factory specs. Takes one hour and theres a guy near 400 and steeles that does this. And the viper was a newer one, a 2006 if I remember correctly. And I wouldn't trust the RIV website or 75% of the employee's there...unfortunately most of them don't have a CLUE of what the hell they're talking about!
Good day BR, You are too kind, my friend ... In actuality I can barely walk and chew gum at the same time... but I do ask questions and like to confirm things just in case, as I find it easier to investigate/confirm first than scramble later. Provincial legislation can change routinely and so what was done/acceptable in the past may not necessarily be acceptable now. I hope all is well and your side of the Country and that you had an excellent Canada Day weekend! Cheers, Sam
