It's an amazing car worthy of the thread. I never completely understood till I test drove mine. I'll now get rid of my house before I sell the car. I CAN pee, eat, and sleep in my car but I can't take my house to the grocery store. lol Actually got that from Darren at BHM. lol

Perhaps a recycled question: (my iPad is struggling with the search function)

How many CS are currently in the US?

This is incredible. Scuds's were priced almost $100K more than the CS, and yet 8 year's later a clean (no stories) low mileage CS (rosso corsa) will command North of $150K. The delta between a CS and Scud is getting narrower. This is a resounding affirmation of the 360 body style. It's not all about performance.

It's a resounding affirmation of supply and demand. They only made a few CS's. Ferraris are all about collectibility. If you want a truly collectible Ferrari, a CS is the lowest price entry to that league...... For now. Get in while you can.

365 in the US alone. That's not a few. 1365 plus world wide.

Not many for sale and that's for sure. About double Scuds made and for sale for reference and most of those Scuds are odd colors heavy mileage.

I'd say there are more CS sitting in collections doing nothing tho. Poor cars :(

If your cs is sitting be sure to change the fluids each year, especially the coolant. Mine sat about 18 months, the coolant went to ****, and now I'm either repairing or replacing the radiator.

For sure. I take it out every 2-3 weeks to warm everything up. I do all the scheduled maintenance and keep the car immaculate. That is half the fun!

I never quite understood buying something as fun as a Ferrari and not driving it. I have had everything from a 308 to an F40, and I wouldn't trade the experiences had behind the wheel for a lower odometer reading.

The CS is just far too much fun to let sit. I think Napolis said it best, "Not driving your Ferrari and saving it for the next guy, is like dating a super model, and not sleeping with her".

The CS is just way too much fun to drive for letting it sit in the garage!
Only have mine for a few months but i just can't stop driving it, revving the engine to 8.500 RPM over and over again, pure heaven! ;)
I seriously love this car! :)
Ok, when the time comes to sell (can't imagine now that this will EVER happen), i won't get top money, but at least i enjoyed the car to the fullest!

Don't get me wrong, I love driving the car. It's amazing. I also get enjoyment from it like I do a piece of art. Great to look at and know you have something special that is limited. I have other fun cars to drive daily.

As a fan of the CS and not an owner, drive it everyday, track it, or drive it whenever you get the chance when your busy schedule allows, just don't treat it like an untouchable work of art. I think Enzo Ferrari expected all of the creations that bear his name to be driven to their maximum potential whenever possible. No Ferrari is above this desire.

Interesting perspective. Certainly "to each their own" I suppose. That said, for me, a car - at least a car produced in such quantities - isn't a work of art, but is a car...especially a CS which was designed for as much fun as a street legal road course car can provide.

And, I'm trying to understand/learn..."why" is driving it at odds with appreciating its visual beauty? Can't you drive it...track it...enjoy the machine as it was intended AND like looking at it? (I certainly do...) The way you wrote your posts made me conclude that somehow you think that...but I could be reading you wrong. I have to say, I'm surprised by your perspective and simply trying to understand why some CS owners think of them as "garage art" (something to look at) and some of us think of them as a fantastic "fun machine"...

BTW, what do you DD? (I seem to recall you having some cool rides)

Unfortunately I barely drive mine as well. Just too many others to drive I guess.
Arizona. You are doing it right!

Stokpro emailed me the other day a link to a 120k mile 430 spider. Now that's perfect. In 25 years maybe my sons will be driving a 100k Stradale :)

I drive my CS and it's won awards at several concours. I just passed 6,000 miles on the Enzo and it won best of show at the local concours.

Cover it in plastic and it will look like new with 20k+ miles.

If a car is well cared for, I'll pay a premium, regardless of the miles.

Bill, how many miles do you put on each car per year? Just wondering since it sounds like you drive them often or at least take them on weekend trips
If I ever own a CS, I can't see myself not driving it at least once a week.

I didn't realize this was going to generate discussion. Here's what I will say. There are all kind of enthusiasts. I have had a love for cars since early childhood. I have been fortunate to have owned a lot of fun cars over the years. There are cars that I love to drive and there are cars I appreciate in other ways. When I decided to get a CS, my plan never was to track it or drive it hard. In fact, just the opposite. I wanted to preserve it. I consider 350 (give or take a few) that came to the U.S. make it a limited production car. I'm not sure why there is debate on this? Anyone lucky enough to own one know that it is a special car with a cult like following. In my mind a car worth preserving.

Since I wasn't lucky enough to pick up a new CS back in 2004, my goal was to search for an original owner who had the same objective as me. After a 9 month search I found what I was looking for. Couldn't be happier.

So for me, while I get "absolute" pleasure in taking my CS out for a drive (yes I do drive it), my ultimate objective and equal pleasure is maintaining the car at the level that in 10-15 years from now it will still be concours worthy. I realize this is not everyone's goal and pleasure and that is perfectly OK with me.

I swap between a modified Audi S4 and Maserati Gran Turismo S as my DD. I also have a couple more toys in the garage. :)

I understand what you are saying and agree 100%. A car can be a piece of art and doesn't have to be driven to enjoy it. My brother has owned or still owns every imaginable exotic car made (including 30 + Ferraris). His garage is more important than his house. One of his "pieces of art" is rare Porsche 550 Spyder that he purchased in the 1960s. When he bought it he knew he would rarely drive it. My brother didn't have to drive it to enjoy it. He got the same criticism then that you are hearing today. "How can you own a great car like this and never drive it?" "Porsches are meant to be driven" , etc, etc. Well, 50 years later and that 550 Spyder is still a piece of automotive art. Not much fun to drive by today's exotic standards. But I could sit in a chair and look at that car all day. A beautiful car then and still is now.

Never considered keeping a Ferrari concour ready as higher level of maintenance. That must be maintaining a "just rolled off the factory" look and spec regardless of the miles and possibly tracked. I could see how that can get really costly.
