Hi guys. I am new here on the forum and happy to join all of you. I live here in the city of Chicago and looking to see if anyone would be willing to rent their Ferrari for the day? I don't own one and have always dreamed of what it would be like to drive one, but can't afford to rent one from rental company. Not sure if anyone would be willing to do this type of thing, but it be greatly appreciated. Otherwise I wouldn't mind just to go for a cruise with you in your car and if you trust me, I would love to take a cruise with you. I know this is a long shot, but I'm hoping someone can answer my dream.

    Thanks,
    Rosario

Someone already asked the "can I drive your Ferrari" question not too long ago. The 2 most popular answers seemed to be "save your money, and rent one", and "friends don't loan their Ferraris (or any other car) to complete strangers."

See this thread for the skinny: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=358113

As for just getting a ride in one, you might have slightly more luck with that. Attend some of the local events, make some friends, and see what happens.

I understand that these vehicles are expensive and it's hard for anyone to trust people with their car. I would be honored if anyone here like to give me a spin in their Ferrari. I'd be happy with that.

To make it easier for you to understand most guy's dilema, I have changed your wording to what most of us equate your request to.

"Hi guys. I am new here on the forum and happy to join all of you. I live here in the city of Chicago and looking to see if anyone would be willing to let me sleep with your wife for the day? I don't have one and have always dreamed of what it would be like to sleep with one, but can't afford to rent one from escort company. Not sure if anyone would be willing to do this type of thing, but it be greatly appreciated. Otherwise I wouldn't mind just to go for a date with you and your wife and if you trust me, I would love to take a cruise with your wife. I know this is a long shot, but I'm hoping someone can answer my dream."

.................maybe it's just me, but these posts creep me out when it's from someone with no posts.

    Welcome Rossr,

I completely understand your feelings for the Prancing Horses. While Chelle and I built a really enjoyable and insane car, I still had a desire to own an F-car. I enjoyed meeting many of the owners in our area and have found that they are some of the best folks I have met in my travels. I admire each car every time I see one.

After some years, a very close friend let me take his 308 to a special event as our car was down. I was beyond honored and was so scared about hurting his amazing car. I had a smile on my face the whole weekend, and knew I would own a 308 from that moment on.
My dream has come true and I absolutely adore my 308 and every Ferrari I still see.

A few things to think about is that many people in the community know each other and chat or meet at events. I went to events and got to know folks, but never asked to take a car for a ride, or even sit in one. When I was offered a 308, I actually turned down the offer at first. I just could never forgive myself if I ruined it.

Not to be critical, but it is hard for folks with any make of car to stomach the idea of passing keys to a stranger. And it is difficult to get to know you with no actual name or data in your profile, and for your first post to ask to drive a car.

What I do know is that you are VERY welcome to come to most of the events and enjoy the lines of the cars and the look of the engines all you like. Every owner will talk shop with you, especially when they see someone has the same passion they do.

There are a few folks that do let others sit in cars, Chelle and I being a couple of them. I love letting kids sit in the cars and let Dad snap off pics of them, most of the time I think the dads enjoy it more! :)

Come to some events, introduce yourself, meet new people, make some new friends and enjoy the sights. Doing just that has given me most of my friends I have and my new baby.

Hope to see you out and about.

    My Best,
    Haley

You should see HIS wife. They could [might] be twins.

Did you ever see the pinstriping job on that car?

Has the full-tilt goldflake shebang finish on rear - circa 1982. Like this:

I met him too. He is probably still around sans Ferrari. Darolls has the full story on that, maybe we'll hear it in August. :)

    As to the OP:
    ***etaboutit!

Your best chances to get behind the wheel of a Ferrari are in Las Vegas at Dreamcarrentals.com. That's where I rented my first one: A 348 Spider, which I took to a drive onto Hoover dam. The next day I showed up there again and rented a 355 for a ride through Red Rock Canyon park. On my third day I rented a Testarossa to head North. Those experiences were unforgettable and worthe every cent. While renting one sets you back about $ 600 for 4 hours, every Ferrari owner will tell you, that is pocket change when it comes to any kind of maintenance.

Once I owned a Ferrari I met a bunch of fellow Ferrarifolks and occasionally (as in like maybe once a year) one of them was nice enough to swap keys. But don't count on that. If it happens, consider it a gift from Heaven.

PS: I tried to swap keys with Tony the Tiger (the dude on the 360) but he wouldn't do it. I'm pretty sure it was because he doesn't drive stick. :)
