Well, they just sold a perfect one (Classiche Certified) up the road from this place for something like $95K. My guess is something less than that...

Looks like the rear marker lights (and moving the front marker lights?) are the only US modifications -- hope it has papers...

I think the color is beautiful. Just wish the mileage was known. This will be interesting to watch.

Azzuro Metalizzato I think... I agree, this is a beautiful color. I think Dinos look amazing in this color too.

    That's my unicorn.

Needs a radiator, see the pics of the green residue in the upper right area. And an exhaust. Otherwise lovely!

I would not be surprised if this car made it north of $50k

Scott! You are just fanning the flames of the 308 craziness.
I hope this one sells for $45k....I need the values of these things to stay low for a little while longer so I can pick one up. There is one in CO with some period modifications, full provenance, recent service, magazine article, and owned by the prior manager of Ferrari Denver, and that one is listed at $59k (if I recall correctly.). We will see. The other one (F40's) sat on the lot for a while, didn't it?

Actually the one in CO, which was featured in Forza has had major mods done to it especially to the body, which would require major $$$ to bring it back... BTW the one in CO was also listed in the FCA newsletter classifieds for some time.

To me, this is the perfect year, type, and color for the example I'd wish to have some day. I don't even care about the fact that it's a fiberglass car, though having a dry sump engine would be pretty nifty.

Correct about the body, engine, suspension, and wheel/hub mods. But, they are all mods from the 80's ("period mods" so to say...) and really make that particular car what it is. I saw it in the FCA classifieds and in the FML. I spoke to the owner, very nice and informative. That car needs a specific buyer.

Are the louvres on this car black or body colored? In some pics they look black.

    what a stunning car

I'm not fanning any craziness; the craziness already exists. This car is going to cost bucks. Period. Try finding another LHD Euro glass car in the U.S., aside from the CO one. Also, this one has had an engine rebuilt which, if done correctly (and I assume it was), is a BIG plus; it also has had a recent major. Again...big bucks. Just watch.

    Gentlemen,

Just a thought, or a precaution, if I may: it could be better to check its history with the seller, if you intend to bid...

The Ebay-add says its construction number is 20005; I am a bit of an anorak for c/n, so I cross checked my references. Here is what I have found:

    - the 308 GTB register (www.308gtb.de) says 20005 is a black (yes: black) LHD dry-sump glass car converted to 308 gr IV specs.
    - Matthias Urban's book (Handbuch der Ferrari serien nummern) says 20005 is a british LHD black metallic over black leather dry-sump vetroresina (sorry: glass car) converted to GTO-style body.

Both are german sources and maybe wrong; after all, any register depends on sightseing, etc. But both are usually reliable. So it MAY well be that this car has lived another life in the past...

    Best,

Well, Ferrari seemed to disagree because this is exactly the colour with which they introduced the 308 GTB to the world at the Auto Salon in Paris back in 1975. But to each his own ofcourse.

At nerofer: maybe it's a typo? Don't know how Ebay in the US works (with Carfax and all) to prevent typos or not.

    I don't know, Peter...could be?

It is just a reflex on my part: being interested in c/n of Ferraris, I always check, when I see a nice car, if it is already known in some archives. This car is indeed listed as "20005" in the E-Bay add, and two rather dependable sources gives the result I have posted above for that chassis number.

I certainly don't claim to have the truth, but on the other hand I don't feel I should neglect to say that some reputable sources say that said chassis number "20005" was originally a black car, then converted into a wannabe "group IV 308 GTB" or "pseudo 288 GTO".

Of course, this does not necessarly mean that somebody is trying to sell a car for what it is not, both sources, as I said, maybe wrong: the report they have had on the car may not be exact, they may have been a confusion, etc...
But I think care has to be taken and cross-checking would be wise: perhaps both sources are wrong, nevertheless for any body ready to bid and invest money in the said car, I think it is worth the precaution, just to lift the question mark.

Which may help explain an engine rebuild so early in her life and why the odometer is off by about 15K miles...
