Worst track of the season but a terrific event.

I wish it wasn't so darn far away from the US.

    Interesting to say the least.......

The Pygmy, who as we know, *always* has an angle says it's done when apparently it's not. What's he up to I wonder? I don't see the benefit to him, which is all he cares about of course. Trying to put "pressure" on the promoter? Lots of ways of doing that without making apparently BS announcements......

Incidentally, has anyone read either of these releases in the Singapore Times? Pitpass isn't one of the more reliable sources. Not quite as bad as PF1, but still pretty "dodgy" IMO.....

    Cheers,
    Ian

Using every opportunity to bash the track. What a hater! :p

Seriously, why wasn't it so cool?

I've been to the track. IMHO, this is just a track you go one time to get the feeling and never return. It's boring, cramped, and it sucks on tv!

I think it is a horrible track simply by playing it on the Playstation. Every corner looks the same.

But I do think the city looks fantastic and there is ton of stuff to do. Including the Black Peas. :)

A friend of mine went there, combining it with a vacation in Thailand and just loved it. Aside from the heat of course.

    Asked and answered!

I was probably spoilt by the Aussie GP, to be honest. I prefer general admission here because you can walk to every part of the track and view clearly at all times, as well as having huge screen tvs at every point.

Based on that experience, I was happy to buy general admission for Singapore. Imagine my surprise when I found that not only could you not walk around to see all of it, you pretty much couldn't see ANY of it AND there wasn't a TV in sight. I'm quite sure that if I'd bought a grand stand seat I would have at least had a tv to look at.

I was previously disillusioned at Monza when I bought tickets for grandstand 8. The tv was so far away we couldn't really see it, never mind READ anything on it, and even though we suspected we knew who won, we weren't sure until we got to the hotel. Also the facilities were rubbish.

Tks. My friend sitting on a grandstand mentioned that he could only see the small part of track in front of them. Was very much the same for me at Valencia.

Don't tell Speedy that. He loves that track...

Could not disagree more, this year will be my third annual trip to Singapore. I love the race, I love the track, and the atmosphere is only second to Monaco. The city is very inviting, clean and safe. Try watching it from atop of the Marina Bay Sands......that is an experience, tv's all around, cocktails flowing, and the lights of the city in the background. The circus and Bernie love it for a reason.....it's an Eastern Modern day Monaco.

    They're an eye opener alright.

But as far as seeing the race is concerned? Forget about it.

I hated Monza when I was there sitting in the grandstand (despite the Ferrari win). But I'll give it another try this year going to Variante Ascari. Hoping to have a better view.

As for Singapore: Sellnit's comments confirm what I thought about Singapore just watching the fabulous images on TV. Still friggin far away from the US.

in asia we only have 4 choices to attend races. oz is by far the best but it is a 9.5 hour plane ride one way from hk. sepang is too early in the season, usually wet and not all that interesting. shanghai is a logistical nightmare to get back and forth from the track, support races suck. so that leaves singapore. heaven to walk out of the door of your hotel to the track for practice, q and the race. heaven to go out in the evening when the sun is not blaring on you. great screens and grandstand (if you buy a seat!!!). lots to do during the weekend with concerts and parties. support races getting better.

When I attend a race I do not expect to know what the hell is going on, it's very difficult to track or know. I suspect the iPhone applications help with this. If good information and intelligence about whats happening is what you want, then TV coverage is far superior than attendance. I attend for the experience. Even when I have purchased seats I haven't used them. I sat for about 20 mins and walked. It is more enjoyable to me to walk around the track and if I find a cool place I like then I might stay there.

    Similar here.

I'm so busy enjoying the atmosphere and taking pictures I rarely have a good idea what the order of the cars are. Nor do I care too much. That's what TV (and recordings) at home are for.

    +1

However, a radio & earphone(s) will let you catch the commentary and the "Fanvision" thing looks pretty cool - I've never used one (Haven't been to a race in a while) but they seem to get good reviews.

    Cheers,
    Ian
