There's a Cal Spyder in Aus?

 

There was in the mid 1980's

 

Meantime Mr Brock seems to have donald ducked the SLS Mercedes, on the out lap, fresh as it was from a reshelling after the last attempt to turn it into a crushed coke can

Wonder if the insurance company will be happy to pay twice?

 

NOW HE TELLS US ALL HERE THAT THE CAL SPYDER IS IN FACT (CAL SPYDER REPLICA,WHEN WE WERE TO BELIEVE THAT IT WAS SAD TO CUT DOWN A 330GT ,HOW COME WE NOW RECIEVED ANOTHER VERSION. ,GO BACK NEXT TIME ON DO MORE HOMEWORK.ITS NOT A 330GT CUT AS YOU HAVE STATED.I DONT APPRECIATE RUDE COMMENTS.

 

ok..so it's not a cal spider replica, it's not a 330...what is it?

 

It was a local 250GTE, now made into a Cal Spyder. I had previously guessed a 330 as the donor because of the gear lever position. However since learned that the chassis was made from scratch, rather than simply shortening the GTE frame, hence the transmission is further back in the frame compared to a GTE.

 

If the chassis was made from scratch, what part of it is a 250GTE?

Engine gearbox suspension?

 

plus instruments, interior hardware, front seats, steering wheel, the list goes on. Nothing left of the GTE apart from a bodyshell, glass and a frame, presumably all scrapped.

The GTE has the engine positioned forward in the chassis to increase interior room (it was Ferrari's first 2+2). The usual approach when doing a conversion is to just cut and shut the chassis rails in front of the rear wheels to achieve the correct wheelbase, but this leaves the engine/g'box in the wrong spot.

 

Sounds expensive.

Even though they lost time with the seeded codriver, Mr Russell more than proved his worth by hunting down and passing Mr Hackett with about 10 minutes to go....

Scud drove the first 19 laps... then swapped over to Mr Russell for the 2nd lot of 19 laps

 

Why? Like I said, if it was my dime, I wouldn't share! LOL

I'd tell him to buy his own.

 

Mr Russell was the quicker of the two pilots... it would have been a 2nd place most likely if not for Mr Russell being aboard...
