Less than 2 weeks to one of the best events of the year, we can't wait. I've pretty much decided not to bring any of the fun cars this year. I never put anything in the show, and touring has gotten really crazy (IMO) over the last couple of years. Too many idiots in KIA's thinking its a race. Either way looking forward to the trip
The big vintage event at Road America july 11-15. Traditionally it's been called the Brian Redman International Challenge. There have been some title sponsor name changes over the last few years but most people still call it the BRIC. If you haven't been before, its a wonderful (but very hot) event.
I've been there the last few years and it's a great event. I'm certainly going try to get up there again this year but don't know if it'll happen. Mark
I'll have 0733GT in the Saturday concours. First time seen in a public event in the U.S. since imported 1971. The Hawk (formerly the BRIC) is not an event to be missed! Friday evening race car concours with a roaring intro (see youtube videos) and Saturday evening sport cars concours - plus all day vintage race car competition at Road America all weekend. Little kids can't wait for Christmas. Big kids can't wait for this.
I always go for the Saturday Concours and walk the streets and watch all the great cars parked and roaming around. It's the best car event of the season.
I am SO there. Cant wait to see the crowd. Look for my Stradale parked amongst the Saturday Concour entrants!
Arrived in town last night. Still debating about putting the 355 in the Saturday Concours. Not just the Kia's. Cars crashed during touring include a 308 Ferrari (right behind me) and a Superformance Cobra (that didn't belong to the guy driving). I agree, the touring for this event is a traffic jam. Best to tour during the Spring & Fall vintage events, 3/4 less cars on the track. For those that have never attended this event. On Friday they parade 100+ race cars down 67 and park them on the street for a few hours. Then around 8:00 they drive them back to the track: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rd48_CJrHfs[/ame]
It looks like I am going to make it up for the parade and concours Friday and then hopefully I'll be able to make it Sunday. ******* wife's birthday screwing up the whole weekend! She's turning 30, I really have no idea why we're celebrating such a tragic event. Mark
Just got home from the whole day at the track. Today was practice sessions, never seen so many Lola T70's and other Can-Am cars at once. Spent some time watching some guys replacing a broken transmission input shaft on a beauty of a McLaren M8. Didn't really see many Ferraris, there was a 365 GTC/4 and a 360 in competition, and then there was a black 400i and silver 599 in spectator parking.
Was that you next to us? The mechanic putting it together found out through random conversation I'm on a racing team and tried to rope me in to help him. That's the car. There was no one else standing around when we were there, just the mutton-chop-sideburned mechanic and the driver. Taking the Ferrari up ther today. We'll see how it goes with broken A/C.
I think i saw you drive through Elkhart Lake today, i was in a black 997 Carrera when the rain was pouring..Gorgeous car. Hope i can see it again tomorrow at the track.

Here are some others too. [ame]http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=imKGLd4QpLQ[/ame] [ame]http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=W6hcVwvmSxs[/ame] [ame]http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VIJO6zK7aZw[/ame] Mark

I was up all day on Friday and Saturday, went home Sunday morning. In previous years I've only ever gone up for the racecar parade and concours into downtown Elkhart, but I decided that seeing (and hearing) a bunch of vintage speed machines rip up the track would probably be pretty fun. It was. I took plenty of photos, and have broken them up into four galleries on my website (for the sake of quicker load times). Check 'em out! http://www.chdetailing.com/the-hawk-recap1/ http://www.chdetailing.com/the-hawk-p2/ http://www.chdetailing.com/the-hawk-p3/ http://www.chdetailing.com/the-hawk-part-4/ I also prepped the blue 330 GTC that was in the show on Saturday.
