Need help with 430 purchase

I am interested in a dark gray 2006 F430 that is currently for sale at Luxor Auto in Scottsdale. Carfax shows damage occurred during the time the 4th owner had it. Vin # is ZFFEW58A360147826. Salesman didn't seem very interested in researching the car's history which is a red flag. DOES ANYBODY KNOW THIS CAR. Thanks in advance for any help

 

Don't know the car, but i would pass on a F430 w/ accident history, 4 owners, and unknown seller...

Wheels look sharp on the car, but having aftermarket wheels really limit the pool or buyers. As much as I like the look, I don't think I would buy a car that isn't stock

Price is ok...not great given the accident history.

I would pass on an '06 with four owners and an accident. You will be better off finding a one- or even two-owner car with no history. You will probably pay more but also get back more when you sell it.

Case in point: Last January I bought a one-owner 5000 mile Silverstone '07 with documented annual service and no history. The previous owner clearly cared for the car as it was pristine. He even left the build photo album in the car for the next owner (me).

Seek and ye shall find.

 

There have also been issues w/that dealer & a wrecked car, if you search there's a thread on it.

(follow-up) Actually that may have been Scottsdale Ferrari. Definitely in Scottsdale!

I wouldn't buy a car with an unknown accident history. I passed on one after finding out that a quarter panel and door were repainted with no explanation. I think the issue generally is a lot of owners lease new ones and don't really give a crap if the accident is reported because it becomes the lease company's issue (they just turn the keys in). If you own it, all of a sudden it's your problem which is why if I ever had and repraint or issue I would take a couple of dozen pictures to allay any buyer issues. Here it sounds like there are none, could have been something minor or could have been wrapped around a tree. As I learned, it may take a while but you can find a clean car at a decent price.

 

Not everyone wants a perfect museum piece car.

IMO, if you want a bargain, you will have to take some sacrifices.

Have it checked out and find out if the damage was minor and properly repaired.

People on Fchat are often their own worst enemies. They hate to see resale values fall but they say pass on every car unless it still has the factory plastic on the seats.

If you want a good run around car and don't mind that it might get a scratch on it in the future, this may be a good car to get.

I'm not saying buy it but without knowing what the damage was, you're just wasting your time asking if you should buy it or not. Have it checked out and then decide if the discount is worth it.

If the car was badly damaged or not repaired properly, pass. But, if it was minor and you really don't care about it, then maybe it's a good car at a good bargain.

I'd be more concerned about the maintenance and mileage of a car than if a fender was repainted.

 

I didn't like the feeling Luxor gave me when I stopped by once. Came across as a car place where half decent cars are 'rimmed' up to look newer and nicer.... Most cars were heavily used and worn upon close inspection.

Everyone at the dealership looked like they would be at the club getting bottle service later that night. They acted too good and cool for people that don't flaunt money or lack of.

I personally wouldn't buy a car there based on what I saw.

 

Aftermarket wheels limit the pool? Does that inlcude C/S wheels on non CS cars? Or perhaps 430 wheels on a 360? Just a point of reference - Ferrari doesnt make any wheels. They appoint an aftermarket company to build them.

I think the accident should cause a little concern; however, I think that aftermarket wheels dont fall into the safety or "concern yourself" category...its just taste. And, in that, you can pick up a set of 430 wheels for about 1/2 the cost of any high end aftermaket.

 

I agree. I have been reading FChat threads for months trying to decide what my priorities will be related to purchasing my first Ferrari. When I purchase my first Ferrari in the not too distant future, I will consider a car with minor accident history as long as the maintenance is relatively up to date. Any accident history and maintenance needed shortly after purchase needs to be appropriately factored in the price. I plan on driving my car at least twice a week. Based on my experience with dozens of cars, stuff happens. No matter how hard you try to keep a car perfect, acts of nature such as a branch falling out of a tree, an act of chance such as a rock kicked up on a road or the act of some idiot (backing into my wife’s one week old Mazda and driving off), you just can’t do it. I would rather pay a little less for a car with some chips in the paint and a small ding or two so I don’t have to freak out when the next one happens.

Now don't get me wrong, this forum has a wealth of knowledge and can be very helpful. But at the end of the day, this says it all......

Car looks great and modern, I really like the wheels and bumper/side kit, the price is not bad, IMO worth further investigation.
