So, you believe that a stock QV (without standard exhaust) has only 370 hp, with a strong one acheiving 380/390 hp? Do you think that Lamborghini's Engine Dyno was so far out, that it was reporting 370 instead of 455hp? or were they being "economical with the truth"?
    (btw if a 5000s had 349 vs a claimed 375, a qv would be nearer 423hp)

Whilst I accept/strongly believe that Lambo (like all Makes) kept some HOT engines around for magazine tests, (eg Martinis car) I doubt that they were more than 10% up on stock engines (As any car journo worth his job would spot power-mods such as larger carbs/exhaust).

Btw, My DD fitted with a "sports exhaust", but otherwise believed to be 'out-of-tune' recently dynoed at 405.. maybe its not out of sorts??

    That.

And by the late 1980s they had being doing this fairly routinely so it comes as no surprise.

I think this is the 1982 factory LP500S press car (bianco/bianco) used in 3 or 4 magazine articles.

Another period image of Valentino behind the wheel of a white LP500S, this time a UK-supplied RHD version

Note same wing regularly used by aftermarket tuner Koenig in the 80s

Another pic that portrays the shape & height of the rear wing. Note different side-skirts also used by Koenig, this type has been erroneously claimed to be factory-fitted by some.

Seems like this Red car is sitting a little high in the front?

Looks like a toy. Terrible wing. Better from the side view though.

Thanks for posting, Joe. Stared at that wing for 25yrs, wondering :)

I tend to agree, although it is an LP500S, and the aftermarket side-skirts exaggerate the illusion.

You are so right. I just looked at it and its interesting to see the car having just 153 test km on the clock.

Another interesting publication, sent to me a while ago by our good friend Emilio

Yes, these are the real numbers!
Look at the dyno in the AMS Story, you can see there is nothing above the carbs, now try to figure out how much you will loos with that small airbox installed and the air filter and snorkel above the radiator...
A standard muffler alone will loose about 20bhp against an Ansa, I've cut open an orginial muffler, what a nightmare in sense of performance...
