Anyone have a canonical list of Ferrari events and activities for the Monterey / concorso week? Obviously the FOG dinners are the climax for the week but why else is of interest?? Haven't seen anything from Ferrari yet... SV
Saturday August 4th, 2012 - Racing For Research at Sonoma Raceway Janice Barlow of the non-profot Zero Breast Cancer in Marin says, "It's not too late for ... A full day of racing on Infineon Raceway's lightning quick karting track with professional driving instruction courtesy of Simraceway Performance Karting Center. In addition to instruction, you will have the use of a kart, a driving suit and helmet, lunch and the possibility of being one of 10 finalists who will compete in a timed lapping at the end of the day." To RSVP or obtain more information, call 415-507-1949 or email [email protected]. There are 40 slots in total, cost is $300 and a big chunk goes to BC research. http://www.zerobreastcancer.org/events.html#infineon
Proof that FOG was actually created in 1973 by Gene Roddenberry as the pilot for a new sci-fi TV series. Except that he called Ferraris "subshuttles". Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you plan to be in Monterey and you'd like to attend one or both of the FOG dinners, please sign up here. Far too many people had to be turned away last year and went hungry so I am working to get more spaces for us. So please do not wait if you wish to be there. Both dinners have limited capacity and will begin after 8:30 pm. Also, be sure to visit the FOG Rally pavilion at Concorso Italiano. There will be some great surprises as well as the release of the 2012 issue of Cavallo da Corsa Magazine. Friday August 17th Dinner, Vesuvio, Carmel (45) 1. Geno 2. Vraiment 3. Dave and Anne 4. Thanks for the list Joe! This is my first year attending the festival. What should I try to check out? Anyone else planning on going to the concourso Italiano?? SV
This is my first year as well. I have no idea what to expect, but I am very excited to be attending the Concourso.
You guys may feel overwhelmed by the number of opportunities to attend and participate in events -- it really becomes a question of prioritizing since there are conflicts (Quail occurs the same day as Concorso, for example) There will be a FOG gathering (party at a private home) at the end of the Pebble Concours - so if you are still around then, keep that open. There will also be a drive Saturday morning -- epic, not to be missed, followed by lunch --
I haven't been since '97, but back then the rule of thumb was Monterey Historics on Saturday, Pebble Beach on Sunday. Now the Concorso Italiano claims Friday. Enzo willing, my wife Kathy and I will be at the Concorso with Brenda, our '83 400i. We got our hang tags last Friday. Now it's up to Brenda and how she feels about hitting the road that day. It would be good to know the other FOG members who will be on the show field at the Concorso, and what they'll be showing.
