Finally Got my baby home!! Not all fun and games though.....

I understand what you guys are saying, but I'm ok giving them a chance to make it right. I'm giving them until Monday to respond before I bump it up a little. They can wait for me to give up, but I promise I will not give up if they don't do the right thing. It's a matter of point! I made sure before I left Florida that they couldn't screw me out of too much money, so it's not really a money issue. Once I am convince that they screwed me, the fun will start for me and I will make sure that it is worth the amount they screwed me out of! I didn't even get started. This forum only knows about it because I just wanted to tell my story. I wasn't looking to try and hurt their business or anything like that. There are a lot more places to tell my story if they are in fact being dishonest with me (I even have media connections). I have plenty of tricks up my sleeve. That's why I want to be 100% sure before I go any further with my situation. 99% is not enough for me. I am an honest person, that likes to give the benefit of the doubt when possible.
As I said previously, I probably won't go after them legally because it just wouldn't be worth my time and money....there are other ways to make them regret their greediness.
Again, I'm assuming at this point that it will not have to turn to that. They gave no indication yet that they thought I was wrong or unreasonable, nor did they refuse to take care of what they were supposed to. I will update on Monday or Tuesday.

 

I totally agree with you! I have no tolerance for dishonesty or apathy when people are doing a job.
I actually tried to buy from a private party, but it seemed to be impossible to find the car I wanted. It took me at least 1/2year to find this one. I wasn't in a rush, but it definitely gets to be a pain after a while.

Of course I expect to run into issues along the way, those things won't bother me. It was the stuff that was supposed to be done, the false promises, that really upset me in the whole process. The flat tire on the first day really stunk, the worst part is that it was on a Sunday, and I was stuck on the side of the road! Thankfully all the stars aligned and I got out of it fairly unscathed.
My issues with the car are relatively minor, and very easily fixed if the dealer cooperates.

I guess they finally realized that I'm not exaggerating, and that I'm a reasonable person. I also tried several times, to tell everyone that there was more to the story, but it was too hard to get in every detail, as it was just too much info to write on a forum. As time goes on, I remember more and more. Tuesday I will start bumping it up, taking care of contacts as well as following the path that Srfcity recommended. The only people that know about this so far are the people on the forum. I didn't even call the owner of the dealership, or Ferrari North America yet, nor did I put it on any other forums either. Even if I gave leeway for all the excuses up to now, the manager was in the office back from vacation for a week. A week is enough time to cut a check and over night it with a gas cap...The writing is on the wall, but I'm still going to wait until Tuesday because I thought it was still a reasonable amount tof time. I'm trying to believe them still, and I will update as necessary.

 

A little good news. I got my permanent NYS license plates yesterday! No title, but I should get it in about a month or so. I know the dealer had to order a duplicate in order to get the NY plates. Now they have to update the duplicate with my info, and send it to me once DMV re-issues it with my info on it. I found this out through the DMV investigations in Florida. I called the manager on Monday, his story coincided with what the DMV said.
I also asked about the reimbursement and the gas cap, he said the gas cap still didn't come in and he will send it when it does. The manager also said that he will cut the check in my name, and since it is a huge company (it is), the guy who signs it is in NY (I checked, I have the presidents info, the main office is in NY). Once he signs it, it will get overnighted to me. He said I should have the check for the repairs by Monday. I have to say, he truly sounds like he wants to do the right thing by me. I am definitely willing to be patient for another week or so. In the mean time, I did all the research and I'm ready with all the contacts necessary to move forward if necessary. Probably the best person on my side now is the DMV section that investigates dealers. I called them to see if my situation was relevant to what they do. They said "that's what we are here for,we can take your complaint". I told them that I want to hold off for about one more week. I know I can cancel it if they pull through, but I'm trying not to be a d..k about it. I know I wouldn't be, given that I already gave plenty of opportunity, but I'm ok giving that one last chance for them to pull through. I keep waiting because once I start, I go FULL FORCE! And once I get there, I don't even want the money, it's about saving other potential buyers. I think these guys are actually honest, but just do everything very slowly ...I'm used to NY speed when conducting business. LOL

I agree, however when I spoke to DMV, they said that I can file whenever I want. they just need a letter from me. By the way I also have the info for their bond company (thanks for the heads up!), so I'm not too concerned, I will probably get the money they owe me no matter what. I'm just hoping that it doesn't have to get to that point. It would be a pain for everyone.
I'll give an update when I get any news, or lack thereof. I should have answers by next week.

 

I think you are right....I'm more curious now, can they be THAT bad? LOL

sent an e-mail asking for update, and tracking# for the check that was supposed to be sent out Wednesday (3 days ago). I'll advise if I get a response.

On the brighter side, I'm enjoying the car a lot! In the next few weeks, I'm looking to get together some nice photos that I can post. I'm just waiting to try and find a nice back drop for it, as well as my brother who has a very nice camera, LOL

 

I totally agree. I'm not naive, I am at the point where it is almost entertaining to hear all of the excuses. These excuses and promises will only make him look worse if he doesn't follow through at the end. I'm not going to be broke without the $2,000 he owes me, so I don't have a problem letting him dig deeper. Of course the other option is that I'm giving him time to pay, and he actually surprises us, and pulls through.

Thanks, apparently he did get a link to the thread a while ago. I send it to him because I didn't want to use it as leverage, I really wanted them to do the right thing on their own. Apparently, one of the board members wanted to help out and gave him a heads up. After he got a heads up, I got a call from him stating his displeasure with the post. LOL. If he only took a second to realize MY displeasure, maybe he would have called back on his own BEFORE he got the heads up. How come I get the feeling that I would still be waiting for a phone call if the other board member here dind't help out?
At any rate, you are correct in the fact that I can't just wait forever for action by them. By August 1st I'm definitely going to start the process. I figured in the first stages I will start with the President of the dealership and Ferrari North America. If I'm not satisfied with that, then I go to the DMV dealer investigation unit to file a complaint as well as the BBB etc. If that doesn't work, I will add links to this post on ALL the car forums. As a last resort I will probably notify the media through some connections I have. I know it may sound a little extreme for the amount of money/work that they owe me, but I don't like when people try to screw me. They are (act like) nice people, and I assure you that if everything went smoothly, this post would have sounded very different with praises on how pleasant the experience was.
As I said prior, I'm still going to assume that they are not "trying to screw me", and that they are just a little sluggish with their actions. Once I know for sure...all bets are off!

 

I'm not familiar with that thread, I will do a search for it. By the way, I always say that about doing the right thing...it's so easy. Sometimes it appears to take more effort to AVOID doing the right thing. I will never understand....

 

This is true, but obviously I would leave that judgement call up to them. Truth is, it doesn't make a great story as of yet. It's not like they are selling stolen cars or anything. However, I've seen much less, compared to my situation reported on "7 on your side" here in NY. If a merchant is dishonest, they like to go after them. It doesn't matter how high end, low end, or what they sell. As a matter of fact my story would be interesting to the masses because it's a high end dealership doing this kind of stuff. It will make people feel better about how they are treated at the Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan etc. dealerships. Like I said, my story is not such a great story to most, but these business practices (if intentional) need to be exposed as much as possible.
If I conclude that my situation was a result of INTENTIONAL disregard for our agreement, I will do anything possible to alert any potential buyer. Once I alert as many people as possible, then I know they will be forewarned, and they can make an educated decision after that. I don't even care if they purchase a car from them, I just want to know that they are going into it with enough knowledge that they don't go through the same lies that I did (assuming that they were actually lies...). At least I will know that I did my part to help out a consumer just trying to make a purchase.
I'm still having trouble believing that they did this to me intentionally, considering how big that group of dealersips actually is. They are huge, I can't imagine that everyone gets treated that way. If they did, I would think that word would get around, and they would never have grown that much. That's why I'm thinking it is an isolated incident. If I don't get results, I want to be fair to the owner/president of the company and start with notifying them, instead of making a big deal out of something that shouldn't be a big deal. If it's an internal problem, the boss should take care of it before it snowballs. I mean it's black and white!! There is no arguing here, I don't know what the problem is!
Assuming the dealer is finally following through with the promise to take care of everything after they dropped the ball, I should be seeing a check before mid week. I will keep everyone posted....
