but it's seriously stupid to make such tight ass lanes ... how the heck can anyone run away with the number of barriers they have in place ... ???

just plain annoying ... and costly for car owners ...

I think I have 38K km on my car, still no need to change clutch. I think it might be slightly more jerky when changing gear than when we got the car though.

    Hi guys,

Gonna be an interesting day for me. Walked into ex marq yesterday when I happened to pass by the area, as I remembered SFchallenge mentioning that there is a red Dino over at the workshop.

Thought I could get a glimpse of it as well as asked some questions regarding the car before bringing the Mrs down to have a look at the yellow Dino. Turned out that the red Dino is for sale, but it needed a major and clutch from what Ben told me.

So, I am bringing my wife down later to get her to see if she like it, and once this hurdle is crossed, then we can seriously talk about the rest.

Question will be; since the car is already at a probably reputable workshop, and is maintained by them, will it still be necessary to get a PPI for the car and do I bring it elsewhere or can I do at where it currently is?

Anyone knows the current owner or any history regarding the health of this car?

    Cheers!

Oh looks like the owner probably didn't sell it then unless being flipped but thread carefully my friend. It depends on what you're after, if you want a Ferrari experience then No. If you want a classic 70s Italian sports car then yes, with all it's characters. It was pitted against the likes of Alfa 105 series GTVs & Porsches 911 of that period but lost out.

Also the level of quality you want out of a classic. I usually take 6months to 1yr+ to rebuild them then enjoy. Rebuild means engine out, bare metal repaint, glass out, new seals, new cabin, rechrome, electrics etc. it's a scary thought but hugely rewarding after that but you need to be a patient man & prepare to smell petrol, exhaust & get stranded once a while. If you're getting the red one, I would recommend that you buy another good car from UK now for cheap then strip it to save this for lesser money & pain.

The yellow one has wrong steering wheel & after market wheels that are quite nice IMHO. Not sure about the rest till inspection. I would fit a Nardi or Prototipo S. wheel though.

If you want a Ferrari experience then wait for the right 348, 355 or 360. There's a few 360s for sale at under $300k & some with Coe. Right out of the box for enjoyment.

+1 but you know the Sgp govt, bloody kiasi & kiasu yet one wonders how can Selamat & the Malaysian slipped through with that world class security system

    NYC has to wait mate.

Thanks, sounds like Fcar clutches are rather longlasting so far :)

Thanks bro. Good to see some sharp pics.

Hey Jon, thanks alot for the advice. Brought my wife earlier to view the car, which she said was quite nice but needed quite abit of work to be done to it. Also a major and clutch as well, according to the guys at the workshop.

As we were walking out, my wife suddenly pointed to a testa parked at the side and said thats a very nice car, which caught me totally off guard. So i told her the 348 is similar! So moral of story is never trust pictures!

Tried calling the 348ts posted in sgcarmart couple of times and even dropped him an sms but cant seem to get him.

Guess the search starts all over again. But at least i now know my wife's preferences:).. So if you guys know of somebody selling either the 348, testa, or 360, do drop me a note..:)

Thanks you all and have a great weekend!!

No problem Meng. You can strike a deal with the owner on the price of that Gt4 since it's in the workshop now :) Ben & gang can take care of it while the cabin can be outsourced to their neighbour Jackspeed or others in SinMing.

Once it's done up, it can be more reliable than many modern cars & pretty cheap to run. Do some hotrodding & with 250hp+ on that small chassis, it should be a cracker on B roads ;)

The Testarossa, arghhh yes. The poster car for many of us here but as usual one major job will hit you 5 figures but rewarded with many smiles & a genuine 180mph car :)

That clutch has very good reviews jon. However I am not entirely certain if it's good for constant high speed running as I had that clutch put into my SL and it unfortunately did not wear well after a few north south runs.

The owner of the 348 is overseas on summer holiday at the moment I believe. Have you considered a 355 spider? There is also a 355 coupe that is on the market (or at least was for sale).

I am looking for the Ferrari experience, and my wife and myself like classic cars. So I thought maybe we can blend the two together. However we do not know how we will take to buying one that we will have to almost fully restore ourselves, as this will be our first classic car purchase and a first f car purchase. We rather get one that needs minimal restoration on our side and so get to drive it almost immediately.

I only know of one 348, one coed 360, and one white 355 spider on sale. Unless you are able to point me to some private sellers that dun post their sales online.

Ah... No wonder he doesn't answer the phone or the smses. Thought he decided to keep the car. Shall wait and see if he returns my call when he's back. Are you referring to the white 355 spider on sgcarmart? I reckon the price is steep considering it's a coed car and is asking for 70k+ dep per year. I didn't see any 355coupe for sale though.

What's the price diff between a COEed and non COE car? After COE the owner will still have to bid for another right? I'm from the mainland so a bit confused about the singapore system.

I think that 355 coupe was sold fast. You can visit the dealer & drop off your interest but better bet will be with the usual dealers like Autobahn, Marcus of Supercars & Ben of Autoconcept. Eurospeed @ Kakibukit has a Testarossa for sale as well but thread carefully with these old cars. My friend has a yellow 360 spider for sale @ just under S$300K but with only 2 yrs left so unless you pay cash or renew coe now, it'll be a lot of money per month for installments. You may want to stretch your pocket to a 5yrs+ old F430 or Gallardo as they can be under S$400K now.

The white 355 spider belongs to our "brother" here so maybe can speak to him directly. It's one of the cleaner history 355 that's gently driven by him :)

All other 355s have so far been traded above S$200K as far as I know. If you see a red on red cabin, that was once silver. I think the blue one has also been repainted.

These are some of the affordable classic local F cars that I can remember:

    1 silver Koenig F308GTB?
6~8 F308s (think two or three were carb cars while some had modified bumpers) Values rised over the past 5 years as people recognised it as a collectible here
    4~5 F328s (they're well over S$200K locally)
1 red 348 spider transacted sometime back.
1 red/tan Mondial convertible, haven't seen it for many years
1 red/tan or cream 512TR, haven't seen for many years
2 512Ms probably never for sale

You'll have to ask FFC for 355 numbers.

About a dozen Testrossas though I know of 7-8 maybe included the above 3. Perhaps you can make KopiOkosong to part his black Testa to you ;)

Probably 3 F360s manual (after minus one written off) but wonder if any were coed or all exported by now.

The rest comes out once in a long while but you must be fast & don't procrastinate so arming yourself with knowledge is paramount when shopping.

You pay the 3 months average COE every ten years from the 2nd round onwards. So, if your car's worth little & coe @ current prices, you'd be compelled to scrap/export your car or have it converted to classic plate if it's over 35yrs old.

That's why some regular plate classics are highly cherished. Malaysia don't have such problems :)

Just came back from the McLaren Changi event. Drove 2 small laps and Dennis took my for a ride as well. The brake steer is really solid. Allows you to push the car to it's limit. Heard they will do a Sepang event and that would be a great experience.
