Isn't it coming with a new shaped plug (19 pin) instead of the 30 pin plug? Or is that the Ipad 3?

Either way, I'm sure a converter plug will be on the market immediately, but still, dickhead move.

If they are going ahead with a new plug it's stupid indeed!!!!

But the iPad 3 has the normal well known Apple plugs :)

The only credible rumors I've heard:

    Smaller dock (like mentioned above)
    Thinner
Larger screen (taller) - lower credibility.

Those are the only things of relevance that seem credible and likely to implement. Few other small things include head phoine jack on the bottom, smaller SIM card, and NFC payment ability.

Word out today is that they have invented a new technology that allows the film that "reads" your touch To be INSIDE of the LCD pixels. Normally this film is applied on top of the LCD screen, thereby adding approximately .5mm to the thickness of the LCD screen.

The screen is supposedly .5mm thinner now.

    Read this today on msnbc.com.

Bigger screen, smaller battery...I think Apple's target is 30 mins of standby time.

The crappy battery life of the high-end phones (other than Droid Maxx) is the main reason I've stuck with a lower-end Android.

The batteries on most of todays phones work for me. I charge them at night, and the phones are usable all next day until I'm going to sleep again, so worries.

Besides, because every new mobile phone (except iPhone, of course) has the same USB-micro plug now... There are chargers available everywhere! I am still so very, VERY excited and happy that they agreed upon one cable standard...

For the love of God... will people stop calling the next one the iPhone 5. It won't be.

    1 - iPhone
    2 - iPhone 3G
    3 - iPhone 3GS
    4 - iPhone 4
    5 - iPhone 4S
6 - most likely "the new iPhone (sixth generation)" - same as they did with the new iPad

For iPhone and iPad they are dropping the numbers after... it will become the same as iMac, Mac Book Pro, etc. The model just is what it is, and in the fine print they'll say what generation it is. They're making this change now becuase it would be stupid one day for everyone to be getting excited about the new "iPhone 16".

    /Rant :)

I agree. It's like with sequels - it gets old and loses meaning after a while so you need to find ways to keep it interesting. I don't think "the new Iphone" is gonna cut either..you can't have "the new iphone" every year. Time for some new names

    LoL! :p

However, I've explained this over and over again in various threads but here goes again:

I get an upgrade every year with AT&T. I always buy a new iPhone for $199 and sell my old one on eBay. The least amount I have ever received is $350.

Take out eBay fees and shipping I net about $100 every time Apple releases a new phone.

Bring it on...I'm waiting for my new iPhone. ;)

    Basically, I make $100 every time I upgrade. ;)

    I'm a such a cheap bastard.

I want an iPhone that actually talks when it gives you directions. I hear the 5 will do that. Other than that, I don't care.

    That is the word.

Apple is dropping Google maps and has created their own program. ;)

We shall all see shortly! ;)

I have an iPhone 5 engineering sample that I'll sell for $10k USD. That it looks a lot like a Nexus and has Google branding is just a ruse put there to befuddle the unwary.

Mine talks when it gives directions.

What navigation app are you using that doesn't talk?

We are talking about a native app that is pre-installed on all new iPhones. (not one that you buy in the app store) ;)
