just a reminder to those within striking distance of silverstone this coming weekend, that the silverstone classic is on (think goodwood festival of speed for hardcore racing fans), and that on the sunday at noon there will be a parade to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the f40, in which about 70 cars have so far been signed up to run in.

should be a world record and a pretty cool event !

Other than the obvious, the highlight of my day was meeting and speaking with valentino balboni . Very nice and personable guy. Has test driven every Lamborghini since the muira. But he added that the f40 was his favourite Ferrari !

    nice pics and videos. thanks.

frankly it was a bit weird. even in geneva, london, monaco etc you can go for a year without seeing more than a handful of f40's, so then to suddenly see more than 60 of them all together was surreal. and on track it was like being in some bizarro world where this was the only type of car made - glorious as that may seem.

the other thing that was interesting is that although they all look the same from 10 ft out, they are not. there were multiple variations evident in the model run. the obvious ones were between the non cat/cat, perspex vs wind down windows, adjustable suspension vs fixed....
but many had done mods as mine has for better brakes, better exhausts (many without cats), some wheel changes but i dont consider those better. mine turned out to be the only one with cf cross brace, cf air box covers, 4 fire extinguishers - 2 of them automatic, different/bigger turbos.

it was interesting. we also got to compare insurance figures so i had to call my insurer this morning to get some things changed.....

dk were there, along with a couple other dealers, and it turns out the agreed valuation for the model is now about 400 k sterling for a driver with up to about 25k km on the clock. lower mileage was commensurately higher value. but this is up 100k sterling since a year ago....

Imagine if you guys all went out to eat at a place with valet.

That's gotta be crazy seeing that many F40s at once. I've only seen a handful and seein two of them together would be awesome. I can't imagine 60+

nope. thats the light playing up.
i saw them all in line before the parade, and not one was a different color. we had also expected to see a yellow and a couple black ones, but they didnt show. every single one was the original rosso corsa.

The first 3 cars in the photo in post 12 have slightly different number plate treatments with & without Cavallino and there were other variations in the parade too

i asked about that, and it is an after market change by owners. ie the cavalino on the grill and the smaller number plate positioned just above the exhaust is not standard from the factory.

there was also one previously usa spec car, and it had rectangular rear lights embedded in the grill. but otherwise the little 'bumpers' and the big spoiler were no longer there.

i also forgot to mention that i saw 3 with leather seats from the factory, tan, black, red. i didnt like any of them really, altho the black looked ok. to me they would make you very hot sitting in there for any length of time.

i absolutely need to get my aircon topped up - even in the british weather it got uncomfortably warm coming and going to the event.
