Hope you had a great time Joe. Interesting article considering where you just were....
Very interesting article indeed, thanks for sharing. Meanwhile, its almost midnight and we are still hard at work at an Eu summit meeting discussing values! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Besides all the cars on the other websites 2 new cars came to the market (or should I say have been re-listed again). Bianco Perlato/Rosso http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lamborghini-Countach-25th-Anniversary-Coupe-2-Door-/230820614405?pt=US_Cars_Trucks Rosso/Nero http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lamborghini/countach/1438926.html
Joe, do you have any info on the Bianco 25th? The drivers seat looks like it has a fair bit of wear on it for 17,000km. How long are clutch's lasting in 25th cars?
Had a friend look at the 88 Rosso/Nero...Very questionable car.. no records.. will need a clutch and service, paint is bad on roof, wing and in other areas.. some small oil leaks, pedal wear indicated far more than mileage indicated. Another example of someone asking top dollar for a turd. The 89 Anniversary looks promising.. Love the pearl white.. Lambo Houston has a white.tan too..
Besides knowing its chassis number and its owners from new, I have zero knowledge of its maintenance history. It was offered to me perhaps a decade ago when the cosmetic surgeon Scott A owned it in Palm Springs, but since then it has had a couple of other owners. Yes, the driver's seat looks as if if someone very heavy has been sitting in it, or, the padding has collapsed (this is easily rectified, of course). I cant say the wear equates to 17,000 km, but I can say Ive seen cars with more miles that have seats which look better. These cars speak to the lives they have had, and you can tell how careful or otherwise an owner, or owners have been by looking closely at it. But don't go by pictures, they can be deceptive and make issues look not-so-bad or worse. Inspect in person. Don't go by any advice of a standard distance that clutches should last. With an incompetent owner or drivers, a clutch can be destroyed in 2,000km. On the other hand Ive seen Countachs with owners who knew how to operate the clutch sympathetically still on their first clutch at 45,000km. There is no shortcut: you will have to review service records, then get the clutch checked.
Anyone know the backstory on this car other than having sat at both Symbolic and Bellagio for quite awhile?

This one does not look bad at all, but 190 k euro - 230k USD is not a low price. If the car has a good mechanic may be worths the money. This match mine, but this still has USA side lights and reflectors. ciao
when illusion becomes reality... its just a moron belief. thats why the dino pricing jumped passed the countach a few years ago. i wondered who price boosted it since it is not a ferrari, the engine is not ferrari,it is not badged ferrari, its fiat etc. so, there is no truth or trust in these mags or experts like sports car market if they claim the dino is ferrari. a red 67' buick is now a ferrari...did you know that? thats how ignorant this is.and i am tired of the rip off. i asked a few techs how this possibly could happen...they said the rich collectors get together...now were back in kindrgarden. i guess we will truly never know how they got away with it. to me, it loses all credibility...any dealer, expert, mag, tech, let me show you my red 67' buick ferrari, shame on you for tarnishing the truth of ferrari history just to line your pockets for a few months. was it worth it? my beautiful 87' black/black countach qv...now thats reality!...thats a lamborghini!..not the replica moron ferrari. and it shall also rise!...soon!

If anyone is interested in the ex-Rod Stewart Countach LP400 1120262 the sellers http://www.autodrome.fr are now offering "This Countach can also be delivered in the narrow bodywork version (without wheelarch extensions) as initially built by the factory - if desired by the buyer." Image Unavailable, Please Login
IME this doesn't make sense, either you have it as the Red Stewart version or you convert it 100% back to LP400, just removing the wheel arches is nonsense since that car never existed in that manner in his whole live.
I agree. First, it was a RHD LP400, as owned by Rod Stewart. I have posted images of it in the Countach thread being driven by Stewart in this guise. Mardikian cut the roof off, moved it to LHD, and changed the bodywork. Converting it back 100% will be no small undertaking. Interesting car nonetheless, yet another Lamborghini that has been for sale unsuccessfully for years. Sad, because it deserves to be rescued.
No wonder it has been for sale ages with that asking price. Imo it is worh like a celebrity owned LP400 minus the cost to put it back in original configuration.
Minus some more for the "cat-with-nine-lives" factor that today's enthusiast or collector would rather not have. I have been told repeatedly that "I just don't want a car with a long story I have to explain" many times. Ergo, a car that existed in a guise that was well-known that may be viewed as embarrassing to some could be problematic to some buyers even after it has been restored back to original. Especially if all the original components are long gone and the restoration to original involves what amounts to use of a cache of non-original spare-parts. From what I am experiencing these days, buyers are becoming very fussy about provenance, and want turn-key situations. They are also very well-informed, which I believe is a good thing because at the end of the day it fosters a genuine & healthy market. Cant complain about that. My advice for this car would be, enjoy it as it exists, or move on to another LP400 with pure provenance. Restoring it to original will not be an economically viable exercise given the cost of time & money.
It IS the x-Rod Stewart car and that is really the only part i see it playing in the countach family. So why even consider changing it... can't change its history. Things weren't done until they were over done... that was the 80's and that was this car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Note that Rod Stewart originally bought 1120262 new as a RHD LP400 and used it that way for a number of years. Here he is in the car in 1978. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Estimate 650-750?????????????? Nah... Now that I review all of their estimates, they are quite optimistic. It may be Pebble, but I think very few will crest the bottom estimates. Especially that Bentley LeMans.
What do you think is the value of a Gullwing 300SL with steel body? Less, same or more than USD 650 - 750k?
