    Very cool.

As I get older the more I appreciate the wingless ones; in my younger days I couldn't stand 'em.

    Agree.
Car then looks more compact to me. It becomes smaller.
Some years I choose to have wing on and some years I just take it off, to experience some variation.
I think the wingless variant are for the connoisseur owner...

At the tip of my tongue is the name of the Countach shock before Koni. What the heck is the name? I'm not with my car or files and the name has completely slipped my mind. wtf

Way Ass auto, an italian supplier who simply made shocks according to the given specifications.
I have the Konis installed and I'm biased, cornering is much better but on the straight line these shocks are simply to hard, IME the original shocks are the best compromise (and this is telling somebody who made a hundred of turns on race circuits with his QV).
IME the driving on the circuit with diving of the front under hard breaking together with the downshift resulting in a bouncing rear axle destroyed my gearbox main shaft. http://www.countach.ch/Gearbox.html

Ariston made washing machines in Italy and these dampers! Long since gone.

Koni did a kit for the car, again NLA, but the patterns and specs are and they can be built to original spec.
Watch for lower mounting width and may be an idea to send old dampers to match up

I got a pair made for the front of mine, when I had a minor bump and front wheel hit a rock

I agree with you: when you see how beautiful is the wingless car, you do not want anymore that stupid wing.

Once it impressed people, but today everyone can understand it's useless, it destroys the fantastic shape of the car and just slows down a very fast car.

You must have it, as a Countach must have its wing somewhere, but possibly do not install that ornament on the car.

I was worried because the shop could not fix it, but when they finally fixed it, i did not install the wing anymore: i just look at it sometimes, as it is a part of my car, but car lives better without that useless load.

Countach wing is just an obsolethe ornament, imho.

    ciao

Yes, they are WayAss Auto, at least on the QV models.
On earlier models I am not sure.
Joe will know this I think.

I junked mine and put on yellow Konis.
    Same as on early Diablo.
There's an old sticky thread on this topic on l t a l k for anyone interested!

Yep, same as my QV. just went out and doubled checked mine.

If I remember corectly, the biggest issue with the Koni's was trying to source the rubber mounting bushings? The factory wanted some un-Godly price for them?

Will try to look for it tonite.
I sent many scanned Lambo Articles to Mark Smeyers in lambocars.com (including that one, supercar classics mag, etc) and already put them on CD.

    Besides Countach S 1121014, 1121016 & 1121036, he also owned Countach LP400 1120300 all when new.

Just a wealthy guy who liked Countachs.

Yes, he is still around, I visited him a couple years ago in So. California, but he sold his last Countach circa 17 years ago. No other Lamborghinis at the moment, but has some other cars.
