Anyone know how many (original; not replica) Lancia Stratos are in the US? Do they ever sell / change hands? Just curious.

I'm racking my brain, but I remember a car dealer in Florida having one for sale a few years ago, I think I saw the ad in Autoweek.

I know of one in the USA that was crashed and destroyed by the owner/driver, on the day he acquired it. Many years ago.

I saw that wrecked Stratos. McCann had it after it was wrecked. It was wrapped around a telephone pole. Hit in the passenger door and pushed all the way to the shift tunnel. I ran my hand around where the telephone pole had been and was smooth as could be.

There's a couple near Atlanta owned by Randall Roberts... a Stradale and a Gp lV.

He brings them out to local shows quite often.

The Stradale is a drive and the Gp iV is immaculate.

I have always thought of the Stratos as one of those ultra-cool cars that didn't sell tremendously well when new but is now a cult car. Other cult cars which languished at dealers when new? Jaguar XJ 220, McLaren F1 (it's true; look it up!), final edition XKE Jags, Ford GT40 MK III (street version), etc.
Anyone been on a trip in a Stratos, or are they so demanding it's not a good idea?

i've taken mine on a trip a couple of hours each way...it's a bit twitchy on the highway-you sneeze and you've crossed three lanes, if you're not careful..but it does have a lot of torque-it keeps pulling even in 5th! plus, it's like a bloody microwave oven in there...

    but i still love it!
